  • Publication number: 20070008053
Abstract: To reduce the internal resistance of small electromagnetic relays of a one-circuit three-contact gap type in order to make it possible to allow large electric currents and at the same time to improve the connection between the fixed contacts and the moveable contacts. Fixed contacts on the fixed terminals are positioned at each apex of an approximate triangle on the upper surface of the insulation base. Moveable contacts are installed on the lower surface of the moveable plate, and are respectively placed in a position which corresponds to each of the fixed contacts. The moveable plate is fastened to the moveable spring whose both ends are held onto the sides of the insulation base, and moves at a specified distance from the fixed contacts due to the pressure of the moveable spring. The construction results in the movable contacts contacting their corresponding fixed contacts at the three positions with uniform contact strength.

  • Patent number: 7026907
Abstract: A thermal protector includes a partition wall which encloses an arrangement portion of a movable contact and a fixed contact from three sides. • Publication number: 20050189206
Abstract: In a manually operated switch for cutting off direct current, a PTC 9 as a non-linear resistor is parallel connected to a contact circuit composed of a first fixed contact 5-1 and a first movable contact 4-1, via a connecting unit 3-1, a top electrode 9-1, a bottom electrode 9-2, a connecting wire 6a and a movable unit 6. Firstly, the first fixed contact 5-1 and the first movable contact 4-1 are opened. However, since the PTC 9 is parallel connected and the contact circuit forms a closed circuit, surge voltage is difficult to occur, and cutoff current flows in the PTC 9. After peak current passes by the decrease of a resistance value due to the instantaneous heating of the PTC 9, voltage returns to power supply voltage by the increase of the resistance value of the PTC 9, and then the fixed contact 5-2 and the second movable contact 4-2 are opened. Accordingly, current is completely cut off.

  • Publication number: 20050174211
Abstract: In a direct current cutoff switch1, a PTC 5, which is a non-linear resistor, is parallel connected to a contact circuit composed of a fixed contact 4-2 and a movable contact 8-2 via electrodes 5-1. When the switch is closed, no current flows in the PTC 5 with a prescribed resistance value at 25° C., since voltage between both the electrodes 5-1 is almost “0”. When the switch is opened in order to cut off current, the contacts form a closed circuit since the PTC 5 is parallel inserted between the fixed contact 4-2 and the movable contact 8-2. For this reason, it is difficult for surge voltage to occur and an arc hardly occurs between both the contacts. The PTC 5 instantaneously heats due to passing current, reduces the resistance value and passes peak current. Then, the resistance value rises and becomes stable in a high value such that weak current which is negligible at 42V, which is rated voltage. Thus, current is substantially cut off.

  • Patent number: 6826024
Abstract: A less expensive power cord with a safety device detects the damage of the power lines in a cord at an earlier stage, shuts off the power, and guarantees the safety of an electric appliance and its environment. The power cord has two power lines and a detection line provided between them, and the sheath portion between the detection line and the power line is thinner than the insulating sheath material of the cord contact portion. When the power line becomes half-broken and damaged by the fatigue with the passage of time due to bendings and pulls, the broken ends of the thin lines of the power line are untwisted and contact the thin sheath portion of the detection line, a current flows through the detection line, a current difference occurs in the power line, the power shutdown device detects the difference, releases a latch, and opens a constant close interlocking switch, thereby shutting off the power.
