  • Patent number: 5711862
Abstract: A portable biochemical measurement device including a measurement main body containing an enzyme sensor holder for an enzyme sensor. A cover, mounted on the measurement main body, covers the enzyme sensor holder. The cover contains a chamber filled with a liquid medium to maintain the moisture of the enzyme sensor. Inside the cover are a cartridge and packing, which form the chamber containing the liquid medium. The enzyme sensor holder is inserted into the cover through the packing so that the enzyme sensor is immersed in the liquid medium thereby keeping the enzyme sensor moist.

  • Patent number: 5547505
Abstract: Compositions for low heat cements developed especially for massive concrete works and which exhibit a compressive strength/heat of hydration ratio of at least 7.0 at the age of 13 weeks. One of two inventions provides a powder prepared by mixing CaO, SiO.sub.2, and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 materials, melting the mixture, quenching the melt, and grinding the quenched matter, the powder being composed mainly of amorphous substances and chemically having a CaO/SiO.sub.2 (molar ratio) of 0.8-1.5 and an Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 content of no more than 10 wt. %. The other invention provides a mixed powder comprising no less than 70 wt. % of a powder and no more than 30 wt. % of an addition (portland cement or the like), the powder being the same as that of the first invention in both predominance of amorphous substances and CaO/SiO.sub.2 (molar ratio) excepting the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 content which is less than 12 wt. % in the second invention.

  • Patent number: 5309204
Abstract: An apparatus for forming an image of a document on a photoreceptor includes a charging device for charging the photoreceptor so as to form an image region, an eliminating device for eliminating a charge on the photoreceptor to form a non-image region, and a scanner for moving from a stop position to scan a document with an exposure light so that a latent image, corresponding to an image of the document, is formed on the image region of the photoreceptor. The scanner also moves backward and stops at the stop position. A position signal corresponding to a predetermined position of the scanner is generated by a signal device. A timer starts counting a time responsive to the position signal. The timer produces a first and second timing signal after the scanner stops at the stop position.

  • Patent number: 5225688
Abstract: A device for detecting the presence or absence of an original and size thereof and corresponding method therefore. The device is provided on an image forming apparatus, and provides accurate detection of an original and an original's size in the presence of external light. External light is detected during the non-emission state of a light emitting element and used to correct a reference value. The corrected reference value is then compared to a detected value of light emitted from the light emitting element and reflecting from an original, if one is present. Based on the comparison a determination is made as to the presence of an original. When an original is present the light emitting element traverses across the glass contact plate of the image forming apparatus on which the original is placed. Upon the determination of an absence of the original, the light emitting element halts its movement. The distance travelled by the light emitting element is then used to determine the size of the original.

  • Patent number: 4942461
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a photoelectric converter, a multiple-value circuit, and a detachable external storage unit. The photoelectric converter photoelectrically coverts data of an original into image signals. The multiple-value circuit converts the image signals into multiple-valued data by comparing the image signals with predetermined threshold value data. The detachable external storage stores the threshold value data. The threshold values can also be made automatically responsive to gray scale data. The automatic mode and the manual selection mode are switched between in response to a release (toggle) signal. Color separation and color ghost correction are provided; and various types of formatting management are faciliated. Partial color converting (as, for example, color reversal) is also provided.
