  • Publication number: 20090098788
Abstract: In a plasma display panel where a discharge space is partitioned by lattice-shaped barrier rib which comprises vertical ribs and horizontal ribs, a manufacturing method for the plasma display panel is acquired. This manufacturing method is designed for allowing substantially-linear exhaustion-use through holes parallel to the vertical ribs to be formed on the horizontal ribs with the execution of a simple and convenient processing step. The plasma-display-panel manufacturing method thus acquired includes steps of forming a glass-containing material, which becomes step-difference, into a stripe-shaped configuration at positions of the vertical ribs on a coated film of a barrier rib material formed on a glass substrate, and after that, performing patterning of the lattice-shaped barrier rib.

  • Publication number: 20090026950
Abstract: By making the thickness of a dielectric layer thinner than the thickness of each of electrodes, an opposed discharging phenomenon is exerted between the electrodes so that it becomes possible to reduce the discharging voltage between the electrodes. A plasma display panel is provided with a pair of substrates which are aligned face to face with each other with a discharge space placed inside thereof, a plurality of electrodes which are formed on the inner face of one of the substrates in a manner so as to be extended in a fixed direction, with a predetermined thickness, so that by generating a surface discharge, a screen display is carried out, and a dielectric layer which covers the electrodes, and in this structure, the dielectric layer is formed with a thickness which is thinner than the thickness of the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 7482755
Abstract: Conventionally, when a thickness of a dielectric layer is reduced without changing an electrode shape, a drive margin is reduced and stable driving cannot be performed. In a discharge cell, a display electrode comprises a projection extending in a column direction from an electrode body extending in a row direction, the projection forms a discharge gap together with an adjacent paired projection of the other display electrode, the projection includes a first projection and a second projection having two kinds of widths in a row direction, and when a ratio of widths of the second projection on the discharge gap side to the first projection on the electrode body side is assumed as Y and a thickness of the dielectric layer as X, Y?0.2·X, X?20 and Y?0.5 are satisfied.

  • Publication number: 20070278956
Abstract: An AC plasma display panel has a pair of panels disposed in spaced opposed relation, and each having a plurality of electrodes formed on an opposed surface thereof and mostly covered with a dielectric layer; and a sealing member which seals the periphery of the pair of panels. The electrodes each have a portion uncovered with the dielectric layer, and the sealing member is disposed in contact with the uncovered portions of the electrodes. With this arrangement, the discharge space can be kept gas-tightly sealed by the sealing member without communication with the outside of the display panel which may otherwise occur due to the presence of voids on opposite sides and surfaces of the electrodes.
