  • Patent number: 6615725
Abstract: A printing press includes a blanket cleaning controller, automatic plate change unit, image exposing section, pre-inking controller, and CPU. The blanket cleaning controller cleans a blanket mounted on a blanket cylinder. The automatic plate change unit changes a printing plate mounted on a plate cylinder to a new printing plate. The image exposing section exposes an image on the printing plate mounted on the plate cylinder. The pre-inking controller forms, on an ink roller group, an ink film thickness distribution corresponding to an image to be exposed next. The CPU automatically drives the blanket cleaning controller, automatic plate change unit, image exposing section, and pre-inking controller in an operation order set by a start command.

  • Patent number: 6580409
Abstract: A number of capacitive pixels formed in an electroluminescent display panel are selectively charged and discharged by the driving device. The driving device is composed of a charging circuit connected between a power source and the pixels and a discharging circuit connected between the pixels and the ground. Both the charging and discharging circuits include a respective inductive coil that constitutes a series L-C circuit together with the capacitive pixel. Since the pixels are charged and discharged through the series L-C circuit, impulse current otherwise flows in and out of the pixels is suppressed, and thereby radio noises generated by the impulse current are prevented.

  • Patent number: 6558212
Abstract: A hydraulic tilt device for a marine outboard drive comprising a cylinder and a piston slidably supported in the cylinder and defining a first and a second chambers. A working fluid is contained in both of the chambers. A piston rod extends from the piston through the first chamber. The first and second chambers are joined together by a passage that is opened or closed by a switchover valve. Gasses are also contained for compensating the working fluid and pressuring it in the first chamber. Means is provided for permitting flow of the working fluid from the second chamber to the first chamber when the passage is closed and the second chamber produces a pressure greater than a predetermined magnitude. The gasses are dispensable if a fluid reservoir is provided for compensating the working fluid.

  • Patent number: 6504520
Abstract: An electroluminescent display panel having a matrix electrode structure composed of scanning electrodes and data electrodes is driven by supplying scanning voltages either alternately or simultaneously from both sides thereof in order to eliminate uneven luminance along a longitudinal direction of the scanning electrodes. Two scanning electrode driving circuits, each connected to each side of the scanning electrodes, may be used. Since an overall luminance of the electroluminescent display panel is a summation of the luminance obtained by scanning the scanning electrodes from one side and the other side, the luminance along the scanning electrodes becomes uniform by scanning from both sides. The data electrodes may be driven from both sides thereof in the same manner as in the scanning electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20010042484
Abstract: A printing press includes an ink roller group, image exposing section, pre-inking controller, and CPU. The ink roller group supplies ink stored in an ink fountain to a printing plate mounted on a plate cylinder. The image exposing section exposes an image on a printing plate before plate making which is mounted on the plate cylinder. The pre-inking controller forms an ink film thickness distribution corresponding to the image to be exposed on the printing plate on the ink roller group. The CPU performs image exposing and ink film thickness distribution formation concurrently at least partly by controlling the image exposing section and the pre-inking controller. A control method for a printing press is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6317107
Abstract: An EL display in which expansion of dielectric breakdown occurring at any one of EL elements is inhibited. Scan electrodes are arranged to receive an offset voltage Vm at those instances other than during application of a scanning voltage thereto in a positive field, while a predetermined voltage is applied to data electrodes to prevent voltage from being applied to EL elements immediately after application of the scan voltage. Accordingly, even where dielectric breakdown occurs at any one of the EL elements due to application of a light emission driving pulse voltage, it is possible to inhibit current flow between the scan electrodes and the data electrodes to thereby inhibit further subsequent dielectric breakdown.

  • Patent number: 6276976
Abstract: A tilt and trim assembly for tilting an outboard drive includes an improved construction. The tilt and trim assembly has an outer cylinder defining a first internal cavity, a tilt cylinder slidably supported in the cavity and defining a second internal cavity, a tilt piston slidably supported within the second cavity and a piston rod affixed to the tilt piston and extending beyond the cavities. In one aspect, the tilt and trim assembly further has a latching mechanism to lock the tilt cylinder at the fully tilt up position. The latching mechanism includes a first engaging section defined directly at the tilt cylinder and a second engagement section defined at the outer cylinder. The tilt cylinder directly receives the tilt piston when it is placed at the deepest position. In another aspect, a lower section of the outer cylinder is thicker than an upper section thereof. A pressurizing mechanism is provided for pressuring working fluid in the cavities and has a powering assembly therein.

  • Patent number: 6273770
Abstract: A hydraulic tilt system for a marine propulsion includes an improved construction for ensuring a reliable tilting operation and holding the marine propulsion at a tilted position securely. The hydraulic tilt system has a pair of shuttle valve assemblies which can selectively deliver working fluid to one of upper and lower chambers in a tilt cylinder housing from a fluid pump or return it to the pump from the other chamber. The respective shuttle valve assemblies include shuttle pistons slidably supported in shuttle housings. Only one of the shuttle pistons has a seal member therearound. A small gap is, therefore, formed between an outer surface of the other shuttle piston and an inner surface of the shuttle housing.

  • Patent number: 6271812
Abstract: An Electroluminescent display device is designed not to display residual images due to electric charges stored in electroluminescent pixels or to make them invisible, when the device is turned on again. The stored charges are eliminated at the time a normal display on the panel is turned off at an end of an operation, by scanning pixels at least one time while giving a non-activating data voltage thereto. Alternatively, upon turning on the panel, pixels which were activated in a previous use are all lit at least one time, thereby making the residual images invisible. Thus, the residual images stored in a previous operation are not shown or made invisible when the electroluminescent display device is turned on next time.

  • Patent number: 6213822
Abstract: A tilt and trim unit for a marine drive eases manual trim or tilt up of the drive, while presenting a compact construction. The unit includes a cylinder having upper and lower fluid chambers. A bypass arrangement selectively bypasses a shock absorbing mechanism of the tilt and trim unit. The bypass arrangement is formed by a sub-chamber and a valve positioned in series on one side of the fluid chambers. This arrangement produces a compact construction. The valve also desirably establishes three operating states for the tilt and trim unit. In one state, the valve is open and the tilt and trim unit is easily moved. In another state, the valve is closed to prevent movement of the tilt and trim unit. In a third state, the valve operates as a one-way valve permitting extension of the tilt and trim unit to raise the marine drive, but inhibiting retraction of the tilt and trim unit.

  • Patent number: 6019079
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to concentrate the intake air flowing into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine near the ignition point of a spark plug, and to form a strong swirl effect in this area.A projection 16 is formed on an end surface 5a of a piston 5. Projection 16 is positioned near an intake port disposed on one side of the upper surface of a combustion chamber. A cavity 17 is formed at a position closer to an exhaust port than projection 16. An ignition point of a spark plug is disposed above cavity 17. The intake port points toward the outer perimeter of the combustion chamber. The portion of projection 16 on piston end surface 5a that lies in the direction of the intake port is cut away. An intake flow passage 19 is formed on end surface 5a of piston 5, extending from a cut-away section 18 toward the exhaust port via the outer perimeter of piston end surface 5a.
