  • Publication number: 20140239916
Abstract: A protective case can house a portable electronic device. The portable electronic device can have a switch (e.g., for switching an operational mode of the portable electronic device). The protective case can have a switch cover that engages the switch of the portable electronic device when the portable electronic device is in the protective case. The switch cover can be moved between positions corresponding to positions of the switch of the portable electronic device. As the switch cover is moved, the switch cover correspondingly moves the switch.

  • Patent number: 8718380
Abstract: A shape of an object is represented by a set of points inside and outside the shape. A decision function is learned from the set of points an object. Feature points in the set of points are selected using the decision function, or a gradient of the decision function, and then a local descriptor is determined for each feature point.

  • Publication number: 20130304096
Abstract: An embodiment in accordance with the present invention provides a device and method for suturing the fascia or other tissue in a patient. The device includes a first arm and a second arm pivotally coupled to one another and housing a spring-based lever system that is configured to frictionally hold a portion of a needle within each of the first and second arms. A switch allows the spring-based lever system to be used to pass the needle between the first and second arms. When the switch is in a first position, the needle is frictionally held by the spring-based lever system within the first arm and released within the second arm. Likewise, when the switch is in a second position, the needle is frictionally held by the spring-based lever system within the second arm and released within the first arm.

  • Patent number: 8484927
Abstract: A connector for joining a supported member to a supporting member is formed with a series of angularly-joined flanges. The flanges are substantially planar and are substantially vertically oriented, when joining the supported member to the supporting member. The connector allows the end of a supported truss to be connected to a vertical member in the open web of a supporting truss.

  • Patent number: 8456423
Abstract: Wireless computer mouse operation may be provided by receiving a user detection signal from a sensor of the wireless computer mouse to determine the presence of a user. In one embodiment, an operation mode of the wireless computer mouse may be determined by a controller based, at least in part, on the user detection signal. Thereafter, the controller can enable at least one of a short range wireless communication module and a FM transceiver of the wireless computer mouse based on the operation mode determined by the controller.

  • Publication number: 20120243520
Abstract: In one implementation, a region descriptor associated with a communications access point and a location descriptor are accessed at a client. The client determines that a location described by the location descriptor is included within a region described by the region descriptor. The client then requests association with the communications access point in response to the determining.

  • Patent number: 8274508
Abstract: A 3D object is represented by a descriptor, wherein a model of the 3D object is a 3D point cloud. A local support for each point p in the 3D point cloud is located, and reference x, y, and z axes are generated for the local support. A polar grid is applied according to the references x, y, and z axes a along an azimuth and a radial directions on an xy plane centered on the point p such that each patch on the grid is a bin for a 2D histogram, wherein the 2D histogram is a 2D matrix F on the grid and each coefficient of the 2D matrix F corresponds to the patch on the grid. For each grid location (k, l), an elevation value F(k, l) is estimated by interpolating the elevation values of the 3D points within the patches to produce the descriptor for the point p.
