  • Publication number: 20190310789
Abstract: A system and method for adding a migration file group to a hierarchical storage management (HSM) system for data co-location are presented. A file group attribute may be automatically added to one or more files in the HSM system to enable one or more applications to co-locate data. The one or more files, having a similar file group attribute, may be migrated from one or more storage devices in a first tier in the HSM system to a tape storage device in an nth tier of the HSM system to enable recalling of the one or more files in the HSM system.

  • Patent number: 10222994
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention, there is a method, computer program product and/or system for storing data that performs the following operations (not necessarily in the following order): (i) receiving a request to migrate a data file from primary storage to secondary storage; (ii) invoking a primary data extraction function, registered by a user, to determine primary data for the data file; and (iii) inserting the primary data into a stub file.

  • Patent number: 10169085
Abstract: A recovery site is configured to process a task using a copy of an original file associated with the task. The original file is stored on a production site, and a copy of the original file is stored on a recovery site. The task is determined to be suitable for processing on the recovery site based on the task comprising reading the file, the task completable without user input, the task not requiring a physical location for processing, and the task not altering the copy of the original file. The original file is determined to match the copy of the original file based on a modification time associated with the original file being earlier than a copy time associated with the copy of the original file. The task is processed on the recovery site using the copy of the original file, and at least one result file is output.

  • Patent number: 10169358
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, systems, and computer program products for data deduplication. In one embodiment, for a data chunk, it is determined whether a hash value of the data chunk generated by a first hash function is present in a hash table. Once a threshold size of the hash table is reached, it is determined whether there is free space in a write data area, identified by a second hash function. When there is no free space in the write data area, a post-deduplication process is performed for each data chunk in the write data area. Once free space is cleared in the write data area, the data chunk is written to the write data area identified by the second hash function.

  • Publication number: 20180272563
Abstract: Provided are a molding step (A) of preparing an alumina molded body 11 from a molding raw material which contains an alumina raw material powder having an average particle size of 2 ?m to 5 ?m and a molding additive, and a sintering step (B) of preparing an alumina molded body 12, which becomes a spark plug insulator 1, by sintering the alumina molded body 11. At the sintering step (B), the alumina molded body 11 is conveyed to a continuous furnace 100 provided with a heating zone Z1 which is heated to 700° C. to 1600° C. by a heating means 401, followed by introducing oxygen gas to control the heating zone Z1 to have a high oxygen atmosphere with an oxygen concentration exceeding 20 mol %.

  • Patent number: 10083185
Abstract: An apparatus, method, system, and program product are disclosed for data replication. One method includes determining a predicted match ratio. The predicted match ratio may predict a percentage of a current version of a file that matches a prior version of the file. The method may include performing a delta transfer if the predicted match ratio is greater than a predetermined threshold. The delta transfer may transfer a portion of the current version of the file that has changed relative to the prior version of the file. The method may include performing a transfer of the current version of the file if the predicted match ratio is less than the predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10055165
Abstract: In a hierarchical storage memory (HSM), a file recalled by a specific application is migrated as soon as possible after completion of the application process. Specifically, the effective UID of a specific process is preregistered on an HSM client. After a recall operation is performed on a certain file from the user ID, when there is no access from the UID to the file for a given length of time, the file is migrated. This prevents files premigrated by access from any application other than the specific one from being handled in the same way, resolving a disadvantageous problem caused when these (premigrated) files are not desired to be migrated preferentially.

  • Patent number: 9996599
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system includes a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor. The logic causes the processor to receive, at a remote site connected to a production site via a network, an incremental file list from the production site, each incremental file indicated by the incremental file list being either updated or new as determined during a time period between a data image at a previous synchronization (sync) point and a data image at a current sync point. The logic also causes the processor to tally a remote access count of each incremental file on the incremental file list received at the remote site by users at the remote site, record the tallied remote access counts in the incremental file list at the remote site, and transfer the incremental file list including the tallied remote access counts to the production site.
