  • Patent number: 9711979
Abstract: In a power supply system using various kinds of storage batteries such as a large capacity storage battery or a small capacity storage battery, an electric power path is complicated, which may increase failures such as a short circuit trouble. There is a problem in that, when a short circuit trouble between storage batteries occurs, damage to a smaller capacity storage battery is serious. Accordingly, in a power supply system according to the present invention, the relationship among voltages, current capacities, and electric power capacities of various kinds of storage batteries such as a large capacity storage battery or a small capacity storage battery is defined so that damage to the storage batteries may be minimized even when malfunction occurs in, for example, switching a switch, and energy transfers from a higher voltage storage device.

  • Publication number: 20170161348
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for performing a data replication operation to replicate data from a first data processing system to a second data processing system. The mechanisms store a compression ratio history in association with data to be replicated. The compression ratio history stores one or more compression ratios for one or more previously executed data replication operations. The mechanisms determine whether a data compression operation should be applied to the data for a current data replication operation based on the compression ratio(s) in the compression ratio history. In response to determining that data compression should be applied to the data, the data compression operation is performed and the compressed data is replicated to the second data processing system. In response to determining that data compression should not be applied, the data is replicated without compression.

  • Publication number: 20170103068
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, systems, and computer program products for data deduplication. In one embodiment, for a data chunk, it is determined whether a hash value of the data chunk generated by a first hash function is present in a hash table. Once a threshold size of the hash table is reached, it is determined whether there is free space in a write data area, identified by a second hash function. When there is no free space in the write data area, a post-deduplication process is performed for each data chunk in the write data area. Once free space is cleared in the write data area, the data chunk is written to the write data area identified by the second hash function.

  • Patent number: 9594658
Abstract: A method for obtaining and displaying operation states of a plurality of modules of a system. The operation state of one module that is carrying out a current function is acquired along with the operation states of a module set that is being used by the one module in carrying out its current function, wherein the module set may itself include a plurality of individual modules. Thereby, the latest operation states of the one module and its module set are acquired without inquiring of the operating state of each individual module that makes up the one module and its module set. Thus, the latest operation states of the individual modules included in the system can be displayed without imposing extra loads on the modules, i.e., without imposing extra negative influence on the current function being carried out, and/or on essential operations of the system.

  • Publication number: 20160306865
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system includes a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor. The logic causes the processor to receive, at a remote site connected to a production site via a network, an incremental file list from the production site, each incremental file indicated by the incremental file list being either updated or new as determined during a time period between a data image at a previous synchronization (sync) point and a data image at a current sync point. The logic also causes the processor to tally a remote access count of each incremental file on the incremental file list received at the remote site by users at the remote site, record the tallied remote access counts in the incremental file list at the remote site, and transfer the incremental file list including the tallied remote access counts to the production site.

  • Patent number: 9378259
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method for determining a transfer order of files includes acquiring the access count of a replicated file at a production site and at a remote site, these access counts being reflected in the order for asynchronous replication. In addition, the access count of backed up files at the remote site is also acquired and reflected in the order for asynchronous replication according to another embodiment. This allows for improved determination of the transmission order of files (according to priority based on usage) from a production site to a remote site in an asynchronous replication function.

  • Publication number: 20160092141
Abstract: In a hierarchical storage memory (HSM), a file recalled by a specific application is migrated as soon as possible after completion of the application process. Specifically, the effective UID of a specific process is preregistered on an HSM client. After a recall operation is performed on a certain file from the user ID, when there is no access from the UID to the file for a given length of time, the file is migrated. This prevents files premigrated by access from any application other than the specific one from being handled in the same way, resolving a disadvantageous problem caused when these (premigrated) files are not desired to be migrated preferentially.

  • Patent number: 9292313
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for detecting an operating state of a component. A CLI command is transmitted via a command line interface to the component. An output character string is received responsive to the CLI command. A set of significant character substrings is dissected from the output character string, where each significant character substring comprises a label character string indicating a meaning of the output character string and a data character string expressing data of the output character string. A regular expression corresponding to each significant character substring is set thereby forming a set of regular expressions. A difference is calculated between each of the set regular expressions and each significant character substring corresponding to the regular expression as a character string distance. Each calculated character string distance is compared to a corresponding predetermined threshold and the operating state of the component is output based on results of the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20160055171
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for asynchronous replication in a hierarchical storage management integrated storage system. For a given file to be replicated from a primary storage system to a remote storage system, the primary storage system accesses the remote storage system to determine file existence and migration status at the remote storage system for the given file. Responsive to the primary storage system determining that the given file exists and has been migrated from first tier storage to second tier storage at the remote storage system, the primary storage system determines a first performance penalty for file recall and a second performance penalty for sending excess data from the primary storage system to the remote storage system.

  • Publication number: 20150362591
Abstract: In a radar apparatus having a transmitting antenna that radiates a transmission signal for detecting an obstacle, and a receiving antenna that receives a reflected wave reflected on the obstacle as a reception signal, a beat signal that is a frequency difference between the transmission signal and the reception signal is generated, and presence or absence of the obstacle is detected on the basis of a frequency analysis result of the beat signal. When an obstacle is detected, the relative velocity and the relative distance of the obstacle with respect to the radar apparatus are calculated on the basis of the frequency analysis result of the beat signal, the relative velocity and the relative distance at next measurement of the obstacle with respect to the radar apparatus are estimated, and the transmission signal is controlled so that the beat signal of a large obstacle is eliminated at next measurement on the basis of the estimated relative velocity and relative distance.
