  • Patent number: 7340079
Abstract: An image recognition apparatus, method and program capable of discriminatively recognizing an object at an enhanced recognition rate despite an increase in the total number of reference images registered in image databases. When any individual person or public corporation for example is to be specified from the object image obtained by shooting the person or the like, one image database of the attribute corresponding to various situations, or familiarity to the object image is selected automatically, and then the person or corporation is specified from the shot image while referring to the reference images stored in the image database of the selected attribute.

  • Publication number: 20070028668
Abstract: A sensor 10 has a pump 20, an adsorbing unit 30, a gas chromatography unit 40, and a sensor unit 50 all of which are provided on a substrate 80. The pump 20 sucks in and condenses surrounding gas, and the adsorbing unit 30 adsorbs molecules contained in the gas. The gas chromatography unit 40 separates a particular type of molecules from those adsorbed to the adsorbing unit 30. An absorption film in the sensor unit 50 then adsorbs the separated particular type of molecules. The sensor unit 50 detects adsorption of the molecules to the adsorption film. On the basis of the detection level of the adsorption, a measurement processing unit 60 determines the presence of the particular type of molecules or measures the amount of the molecules. The present invention thus detects the presence of a particular type of molecules or measures the amount of the molecules.

  • Patent number: 6974360
Abstract: A method of producing an arc tube including inserting an electrode assembly in which a bent portion is formed in a lead wire into a glass tube to self-hold the electrode assembly to a predetermined position of the glass tube. After the electrode has been inserted to the predetermined position, pinch-sealing is conducted on a portion of the glass tube where the assembly is inserted. In the method, the electrode assembly is inserted into a metal guide pipe which is coaxially disposed with respect to the glass tube, to be once held into the pipe. Thereafter, the assembly may be pushed by a thin rod-like pushing member to be inserted to the predetermined position in the glass tube. One or more vertical grooves which are to be axially engaged with the bent portion of the assembly to circumferentially lock the bent portion may be formed in the inner side of the guide pipe. Using the one or more grooves, the assembly may be guided to the glass tube W without being in sliding contact with the guide pipe.

  • Patent number: RE40170
Abstract: A multi-tone image processing method and apparatus in which mutually dissimilar tone levels are realized by changing the additive condition of recording energy by means of different recording positions, even when the number of recording operations within a specific range is identical. For example, in an electrophotographic apparatus, when the number of irradiation by a light spot within a specific range remains constant as the irradiation position is changed in the specific range, there is a change in the additive condition of the optical energy within said specific range. Thus, the area rendered visible within the aforesaid specific range also changes, thereby changing the tone level.
