  • Patent number: 6922534
Abstract: A process cartridge includes a frame body, a substrate having a memory element, and a cartridge electrical contact and a cartridge pushing portion provided on the frame body. An electrophotographic image forming apparatus on which the process cartridge is loaded includes a main body electrical connector and main body electrical contacts. The cartridge pushing portion moves the main body electrical connector so that the process cartridge moves in a direction to be electrically connected with the cartridge electrical contact when the process cartridge is loaded on the electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge pushing portion operates so as to give a pushing force for pushing the main body electrical contact in a direction to be electrically connected with the cartridge electrical contact. In this way, the main body electrical contact and the cartridge electrical contact can be stably reliably brought into contact.

  • Patent number: 6903510
Abstract: An arc tube body 20 and a foil such as molybdenum foil 30 are joined with each other such that a compressive stress of 105 N/m2 or more remains at an ordinary temperature in the arc tube body 20 along a junction surface. The compressive stress is always generated on the arc tube body 20 even if a fluctuation in the stress is caused on the junction surface by the repetition of the ON/OFF of the arc tube (or a tensile stress is caused to have a very small value even if the compressive stress and the tensile stress are alternately generated). Thus, the junction strength of both members may be increased. In one embodiment, a plurality of cracks (intercrystalline cracks) may be generated on the molybdenum foil 30 by a high pressure acting during pinch seal, and quartz glass is caused to enter the cracks so that the junction strength of both members can be increased.

  • Patent number: 6854574
Abstract: A shock absorber as being of a bumper supporting member and a shock absorber as being of a side member, which retain the sinking motion of a smaller-diameter tube portion into a larger-diameter tube portion even if an impact is applied at a larger angle obliquely of an axial direction, thereby to achieve the absorption of the impact energy by a plastic deformation. A plastically deformable straight tube is partially reduced or partially enlarged to form a smaller-diameter tube portion and a larger-diameter tube portion, which join to each other through a step portion. The step portion is formed by joining a folded-back portion of the smaller-diameter tube portion and a folded-back portion of the larger-diameter tube portion, which have circular arc-shaped sections having arcuate angles more than 90 degrees.

  • Patent number: 6843698
Abstract: Before an electrode assembly is inserted into a quartz glass tube, a reinforcement bending process is applied to a metal foil. Even when a vibration load acts on the electrode assembly during the insertion of the electrode assembly into the quartz glass tube, the metal foil is not easily deformed, so that a rod electrode can be prevented from largely swinging together with the metal foil. Consequently, the position of a tip end portion of the rod electrode can be easily recognized by using a camera, whereby the degree of the insertion of the electrode assembly into the quartz glass tube can be correctly adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6707239
Abstract: An arc tube that effectively prevents a metal halide from being deposited in a light emitting tube portion, causing the change of a light emitting color or the generation of lighting failures in an arc tube. An axial distance L1 from a neck portion 20C of an arc tube body formed between a light emitting tube portion 20A and a pinch seal portion 24B of the arc tube body to a step-down plane portion 20Ba2 of each pinch seal surface 20Ba in a pinch seal portion 20B is set to 1 mm or less. During pinch seal, consequently, a sufficient pinching pressure is applied to a electrode 26, such as a tungsten electrode up to a portion close to a tip portion thereof. Thus, it is possible to reduce the volume of an almost wedge-shaped slit 24a formed around the tungsten electrode 26 on an end in the axial direction of a discharge space 24, thereby decreasing the amount of a metal halide deposited on the slit 24a.

  • Patent number: 6707615
Abstract: An optical recording/reproducing apparatus has a light source that radiates a laser beam, an optical detector that detects reflected light from the optical disc, a collimator lens that converts the radiated light of the light source into a fine divergent pencil of rays, and an objective lens that focuses these rays on the optical disc. The collimator lens has a surface that is curved to form a wavefront shape that increasingly corrects a coma aberration of the radiated light in correspondence to a radial distance between the center of the collimator lens and a position at which the radiated light intersects the collimator lens.

  • Publication number: 20040009733
Abstract: A method of producing an arc tube including inserting an electrode assembly in which a bent portion is formed in a lead wire into a glass tube to self-hold the electrode assembly to a predetermined position of the glass tube. After the electrode has been inserted to the predetermined position, pinch-sealing is conducted on a portion of the glass tube where the assembly is inserted. In the method, the electrode assembly is inserted into a metal guide pipe which is coaxially disposed with respect to the glass tube, to be once held into the pipe. Thereafter, the assembly may be pushed by a thin rod-like pushing member to be inserted to the predetermined position in the glass tube. One or more vertical grooves which are to be axially engaged with the bent portion of the assembly to circumferentially lock the bent portion may be formed in the inner side of the guide pipe. Using the one or more grooves, the assembly may be guided to the glass tube W without being in sliding contact with the guide pipe.
