  • Patent number: 5846458
Abstract: Agents for inhibiting adsorption of proteins on the liposome surface and liposomes which are agglutination-free by binding said inhibiting agent on the surface are disclosed. The above-mentioned inhibiting agents comprise a hydrophobic moiety and a hydrophilic macromolecular chain moiety. Adsorption of plasma proteins on the liposomes is inhibited due to the hydrophilic moiety exposed on the liposome surface with a result that agglutination of the liposomes in plasma is prevented. Therefore, there is no danger of embolism in blood vessels inhibiting blood flow when the liposomes are introduced into the living body. Accordingly, the liposomes are especially highly useful as artificial erythrocytes for which a large dose of liposomes is needed for administration.

  • Patent number: 5835235
Abstract: Disclosed is an image forming apparatus which reproduces halftone by using variable area toning method. The image forming apparatus stores a reference pattern data for adjusting bias voltage of developing device. The image forming apparatus also stores density toning data used for printout. • Patent number: 5828051
Abstract: An optical scanner is disclosed which, in one embodiment, uses a reflection surface on a vibrating element having at least two modes of vibration in at least two respective planes to produce an image scanning beam. Each of the modes has an associated resonant frequency and the two resonant frequencies of the vibrating element are not integer multiples of one another. In another embodiment, a reflective element is used to bounce a light beam from the reflection surface back to the reflection surface to increase the angle of scanning of a light beam. The reflective element may be semitransparent which allows the scanning beam to be detected through the range of scanning to ensure proper scanning. The optical scanner is particularly useful as a hand-held bar code scanner.

  • Patent number: 5790272
Abstract: A multi-tone image processing method and apparatus in which mutually dissimilar tone levels are realized by changing the additive condition of recording energy by means of different recording positions, even when the number of recording operations within a specific range is identical. For example, in an electrophotographic apparatus, when the number of irradiation by a light spot within a specific range remains constant as the irradiation position is changed in the specific range, there is a change in the additive condition of the optical energy within said specific range. Thus, the area rendered visible within the aforesaid specific range also changes, thereby changing the tone level.

  • Patent number: 5741752
Abstract: This invention provides a transparent thermal recording medium, in which the transparent thermal recording medium comprises: a thermal recording layer, which is provided on a transparent layer, consisting essentially of an electron-donating chromophoric compound, an electron-accepting compound and binder resin; and a further-provided protective layer having an approximately equal refractive index to the refractive index of the thermal recording layer, wherein the binder resin is a compound having a group selected from a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group. The transparent thermal recording medium can be effectively used for a block copy film, on which an image is formed, for plate-making, particularly, in photogravure, offset printing and screen process printing, because the transparent thermal recording medium has a contrast of light transmission factors between a color-imaging portion and a non-imaging portion, in which the contrast is not less than 50% at a wavelength ranging from 370 nm to 450 nm.

  • Patent number: 5729362
Abstract: Density data for reproducing an image using the four colors yellow, magenta, cyan and black is based on image data pertaining to chroma, luminosity and hue. The density ratio of two color components, from the three colors yellow, magenta and cyan, is first determined for a given hue. This ratio is then maintained constant while the color value for desired chroma and luminosity is determined. Finally, the density value for black is determined to reproduce a desired color. If the desired color lies outside a reproducible color gamut, a substitute color is chosen which has the same luminosity and hue as the desired color, and the maximum reproducible chroma within the gamut.

  • Patent number: 5691561
Abstract: The present invention relates to a semiconductor device having complementary field effect transistors and a method for manufacturing the same. The object of the present invention is to provide a semiconductor device and a method for manufacturing the same in which is decreased the silicide formation area for connecting a p-type impurity region and an n-type impurity region in the dual gate structure. It comprises steps of covering the silicide formation area of a semiconductor layer with an oxidation resisting sidewall formed in a self-aligned fashion, ion-implanting p-type and n-type impurities with the oxidation resisting sidewall as a mask, patterning the semiconductor layer to form a dual gate pattern, oxidizing a surface of the dual gate pattern with the oxidation resisting sidewall as a mask, selectively removing the oxidation resisting sidewall, and followed by making silicide at its surface exposed by the removal of the oxidation resisting sidewall.

  • Patent number: 5579327
Abstract: In an external-cavity tunable wavelength light source using a semiconductor laser (LD), an oscillation wavelength is tuned by simultaneously changing a current to be injected to the phase adjustment area of the LD and the rotation angle of a diffraction grating while holding the same external cavity longitudinal mode. A light beam emitted from the AR-coated end face of the LD having the phase adjustment area is collimated by a lens and incident on the diffraction grating. Only a light component having a specific wavelength selected upon spectral dispersion is reflected by the diffraction grating and returns to the LD. With this operation, an external cavity (effective cavity length K) is formed between the LD and the diffraction grating, thereby performing laser oscillation at a wavelength determined by an external cavity longitudinal mode and the cavity loss of the diffraction grating. The effective cavity length K can be changed in accordance with the current to be injected to the phase adjustment area.
