  • Patent number: 6329749
Abstract: In a planar type plasma discharge display device including first and second electrode groups to display a desired image by plasma discharge produced between the first and second electrode groups, its accuracy may be increased, and its manufacturing may be simplified. Then, a desired image is displayed by plasma discharge produced between selected electrode elements of the first and second electrode groups. To solve a problem of an ordinary matrix type high-definition display device which is not reliable because an area of a terminal disposed portion is increased by the enormous number of terminals concerning the horizontal direction scanning, a terminal width is reduced or terminals are disposed very close to each other. The display device includes first and second electrode groups.

  • Patent number: 6162404
Abstract: A catalytic converter has a ceramic catalytic support, a cylindrical casing for holding the catalytic support therein and a holding member disposed between the catalytic support and the casing. The holding member has a plurality of net-like layers, each of which is parallel to a circumferential surface of the catalytic support and has fibers randomly tangled with each other. Because of this structure, when the catalytic converter is assembled, damage to the fibers and separation of the fibers of the holding member can be prevented. • Patent number: 6140774
Abstract: A first electrode group and a second electrode group each being formed by planarly arraying a plurality of electrodes on a common substrate are arrayed such that the electrodes cross over through an insulating layer. A common discharge electrode portion is arranged between each pair of adjacent electrodes of the first electrode group to be opposite to the pair of electrodes, and plasma discharge portions are formed at opposing portions of the respective discharge electrode portions and the opposite portions of each of the pairs of electrodes opposite to the discharge electrode portions. Thus, a problem of decreases in width of electrodes and inter-electrode interval caused by an increase in definition in a planar-type plasma discharge display device is solved, and at the same time, without using a complex signal processing circuit, the display drive of the planar-type plasma discharge display device and a high-luminance display drive are performed without causing any image degradation.

  • Patent number: 6068747
Abstract: A gas sensor using oxygen-ion-conductive solid electrolyte layers measures a concentration of a constituent gas such as NOx in a gas mixture such as an exhaust gas mixture of an internal combustion engine. The gas sensor includes a pair of oxygen pumping cells and a sensor cell. Before the constituent gas concentration is measured by the sensor cell, oxygen gas contained in the gas mixture has to be purged because the oxygen gas adversely affects the measurement of the constituent gas concentration. Two pumping cells disposed to face a chamber, into which the gas mixture is introduced, pump out the oxygen gas contained in the gas mixture so that the oxygen concentration is reduced substantially zero. Then, the gas mixture is diffused to the sensor cell where the constituent gas concentration is measured without the adverse influence of the oxygen gas. A marginal ion current which is proportional to the constituent gas concentration is measured by the sensor cell with a high accuracy and sensitivity.
