  • Patent number: 5896216
Abstract: The AM/FM converter of the present invention comprises an optical frequency modulation section which receives multi-channel AM video signals and outputs an optical-frequency-modulated optical signal beam; and an optical heterodyne detection section comprising an optical frequency oscillator composed of a semiconductor local laser which outputs a local oscillator optical beam having an optical frequency separated by a designated intermediate frequency, an optical coupler, and a photoelectric converter composed of a photodiode, which receives the optical signal beam and outputs an electrical batched FM modulation signal which is frequency-modulated and frequency-converted to the intermediate frequency. By means of this configuration, the invention offers an AM/FM converter wherein the frequency band is made considerably wider.

  • Patent number: 5894190
Abstract: A cathode ray tube is provided with an electron gun having an electron lens including a large-diameter cylinder electrode and a small-diameter cylinder electrode composed of a large-diameter cylinder portion and a small-diameter cylinder portion, and at least the large-diameter cylinder portion of the small-diameter cylinder electrode is inserted in the large-diameter cylinder electrode thereby forming the electron lens. The small-diameter cylinder portion extending in the tube axis direction of the large-diameter cylinder electrode and connected to the large-diameter cylinder electrode is expanded or bulged, or the bottom portion of the large-diameter cylinder electrode is removed while only the electrode support portion connected to the large-diameter cylinder electrode is left, so that the electrode support fixed to the outer surface of the small-diameter cylinder portion of the small-diameter cylinder electrode can pass therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5504605
Abstract: It is possible to reduce the thickness and size of a liquid crystal display module and to suppress any display irregularity due to the heat generation of a light source, by providing a liquid crystal display module which is characterized by an upper frame 1 made of a thin stainless steel sheet and a lower frame 2 made of a thin aluminum sheet thereby to reduce the thickness of an intermediate frame 42, and to form the lower frame 2 with cut-away portions 55 and 56, which extend in a direction perpendicular to a back light source 36 over at least the area of a liquid crystal display panel 62 and which are positioned symmetrically to the line perpendicular to the center portion of the back light source 36, cut-away portions 57 and 58, which extend just below the back light source 36 in the longitudinal direction of the back light source 36, and notches 53 and 54 which are positioned below the two end portions of the back light source 36.

  • Patent number: 5253097
Abstract: A demodulator comprising an OR/NOR circuit, an exclusive OR/NOR circuit, and a delay circuit is disclosed as that capable of being suitably formed into a monolithic IC. Also, a polarization diversity receiver for coherent optical communication using the above demodulator as its constituent is disclosed as that having a smaller number of variable gain amplifiers and accordingly having the controlling circuit made simpler in structure.
