  • Patent number: 5452147
Abstract: Each track on a recording medium 1 is divided into a plurality of sectors, each of which comprises a head positioning information area and a data area. Signals read out of the recording medium 1 undergo wave shaping by a low-pass filter 4 and a differentiating circuit 5. An index pulse generator 8 generates an index pulse indicating the reference position of each track on the basis of an index hole detected by a detector 7. A control circuit 20, on the basis of the index pulse, generates a control signal for distinguishing the head positioning information area and the data area from each other. The low-pass filter 4 and the differentiating circuit 5, each in accordance with a control signal, switch between their two frequency characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5364685
Abstract: The matter of concern is the reflection of a radio wave such as a television broadcast wave from a laminated panel having a substrate low in reflectance for radio waves and a layer relatively high in reflectance for radio waves. The reflection is greatly reduced by dividing the reflective layer into a plurality of discontinuous segments by a series of relatively narrow slits such that the width of each segment in the direction parallel to the direction of the electric field of the radio wave is not greater than 1/3 of the wavelength of the radio wave. The invention is suitable for application to a heat reflecting glass with a heat reflecting film having a surface resistivity below about 500 .OMEGA./.quadrature., and in that case it is preferable that the width of each segment of the heat reflecting film is not greater than 1/20 of the wavelength.

  • Patent number: 5048485
Abstract: A throttle control method for an internal combustion engine wherein a motor is connected through a clutch mechanism to a throttle valve which is constantly biased toward a closed position by a return spring. The motor is controlled in accordance with an output signal from a throttle sensor which detects the degree of opening of the throttle valve. This arrangement controls the amount of intake air into the internal combustion engine. The clutch mechanism is engaged and disengaged in accordance with a running condition of the vehicle and an operating condition of the internal combustion engine. An operating condition of the motor, the throttle sensor, the clutch mechanism and the return spring, is detected by activating the motor and the clutch mechanism, and when an abnormality is detected in at least one of the devices, both the motor and the clutch mechanism are deactivated.

  • Patent number: 5048484
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a throttle controller that uses a clutch means to connect a throttle operation means to a driving means under normal acceleration control. The controller allows the driving means to regulate the opening of the throttle valve independent of an accelerator operation mechanism. This makes it possible to start and run the vehicle smoothly in response to accelerator pedal operation, as well as to provide diverse kinds of control including constant speed drive control. In particular, a second control means independent of a first control means allows a driving control means to control the clutch means, thereby reliably providing constand speed drive control irrespective of accelerator pedal operation.

  • Patent number: 5024401
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling quad-line stunt kites of a type having a pair of handles with lines connected to each end of each handle. This is essentially all the control that is used during the normal kite flying procedure, but when it is desired to bring the kite line in or to let the line out, pick-up and/or pay-out structures are used in conjunction with the control handles. Specifically this pick-up and pay-out structure includes a first rod which extends through a pair of openings in the top of each of the control handles respectively and has a crank portion on one end thereof. A second rod extends through a pair of aligned openings in the lower portion of each of the control handles respectively. An axle, which is adapted to be rotated about an axis, is attached to one end of the first and the second rod and a tubular member is adapted to slide over the axle so that a person can grasp the tubular member in one hand and the crank in the other hand to rotate both rods and both handles about the axis.

  • Patent number: 4968513
Abstract: The phosphorus-reduced cow milk of the invention contains a reduced proportion of phosphorus of 1.0 g to 2.0 g per 100 g of protein in the cow milk, the weight ratio of phosphorus to calcium being 1:2, nearly the same as that of human milk. The ratio is most adequate for calcium absorption and is suitable as food for kidney-disease patients with reduced calcium-absorbing function, persons of old age and hyperphosphatemia patients. Moreover, the phosphorus-reduced cow milk of the invention in which only phosphorus component is selectively removed and none of other component is lost maintains the value of cow milk as perfect food.

  • Patent number: 4934473
Abstract: A motor driven power steering apparatus includes a steering mechanism having a torque detector for detecting torque applied to the mechanism through a steering wheel. An electric motor is connected to the steering mechanism through an electromagnetic clutch. The current in the electric motor is monitored and if it becomes excessive, a control circuit is activated to deactivate the clutch. The electric motor is disconnected from the steering mechanism at the time the engine of the vehicle is starting and at other times during operation of the vehicle to determine if excess current flows through the motor which would be indicative of a malfunction of the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4882180
Abstract: A soybean hydrolyzate is disclosed. The hydrolyzate is of a high nutritional value and excellent in protein absorbability. Moreover, it is free from bean-like or grass-like smelling that is characteristic of soybean, as well as from bitter taste. Consequently, the hydrolyzate is very valuable food as protein source. The hydrolyzate is characterized by that the soluble fraction of the hydrolyzate contains amino nitrogen in an amount in the range from 5 to 20%, preferably from 10 to 15% of the total nitrogen of said fraction. The hydrolyzate is prepared by pulverizing soybean, adding water to the pulverized soybean to form a slurry of a solid content in the range from 1 to 20%, heating the slurry at a temperature from 60.degree. to 100.degree. C. for a period from 5 to 180 minutes, homogenizing the slurry under a high pressure and hydrolyzing the homogenates with a neutral protease produced by Bacillus subtilis.

  • Patent number: 4881611
Abstract: A motor assisted steering apparatus has its wheels oriented with respect to a car body in response to a combination of a steering force which is supplied by a manual operation and a driving force developed by an electric motor which is energized in accordance with the steering force. The existence of an abnormality is annunciated when the relationship between the manual steering force and the operational condition of the motor deviates from a predetermined relationship. For example, the existence of an abnormality is annunciated when the motor is energized even though a steering wheel is not substantially operated, when the motor is energized for rotation in a direction which causes the wheels to be turned to the left even though the steering wheel is turned to the right or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4862294
Abstract: In an electronic still camera system, a plurality of circular tracks are performed on a magnetic disc and the magnetic head 1 is used for both reproduction and erasing of the disc. When any one of the tracks is selectively erased, the reproducing operation is set by a control circuit 16 and tracking control of the magnetic head 1 is performed by a tracking servo circuit 5 of a Dither system. The DC component of a tracking control signal in an on-track state, that is, a signal DC' showing the average trace position of the magnetic head 1 on the disc is held in a sample and hold circuit 8. In addition, an oscillator 10 generates an AC signal AC' with an amplitude which moves the magnetic head 1 by the predetermined maximum amount d of track deviation. After a lapse of a predetermined period, tracking control of the magnetic head 1 is performed by a combined signal of the DC signal DC' and the AC signal AC' and reproduction operation is switched into erasing operation, so that the target track is erased.
