  • Publication number: 20060262412
Abstract: Spherical convex micro-lenses are arranged between rectangular grooves adjacent to each other of a lens plate. The arrangement of convex micro-lenses is made to be in parallel with the short-side direction of the lens plate, namely, the direction of the rectangular grooves. Since stray light appears mainly on the convex micro-lenses arranged in the long-side direction of the lens plate, the stray light to appear in the long-side direction of the lens plate is removed by forming grooves at regular intervals in the long-side direction of the lens plate and forming a light absorbing film in each of the rectangular grooves. Or the stray light to appear in the long-side direction of the lens plate is removed by making the direction of arrangement of convex micro-lenses different from the long-side direction of the lens plate.

  • Patent number: 7088905
Abstract: The present invention provides a light guide, a line-illuminating device, and an image-scanning device that provide excellent uniformity in the amount of light produced. A light-reflecting portion comprised of spherical concave surfaces becomes a reflecting surface having spherical convex surfaces when it is seen from the inside of the light guide. Even when the incident angle of light from the light source unit is slightly offset, the reflection angle in spherical convex surfaces significantly changes, and light is reflected uniformly toward the upper surface serving as a light-emitting surface. In particular, when the fine spherical concave portions of the light-reflecting portion have a small depth, the incident light from the end surface is reflected toward the upper surface, serving as a light-emitting surface, and both side surfaces without reflecting back to the light-emitting unit side, so that uniform reflection can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060152805
Abstract: A light guide capable of reducing the degrading of the read image, even when the document face is raised, by expanding the distribution of light intensities in the longitudinal direction in the position of the irradiated item (document position), and a line illuminator into which the light guide is incorporated. The light guide emits lights incident on an end face from an emitting face extending longitudinally, while having the lights reflected by an internal face of the guide. The sectional shape of the internal face in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction is provided with first and second oval arc curved faces, first and second emitting faces, and a light scattering part formed on the focal position (or a position near the focus) of the oval on the longer axis plane of each oval. The concentrating position of lights reflected by the first curved face and the concentrating position of lights reflected by the second curved face are different from each other.

  • Patent number: 7076148
Abstract: A light guide, a line-illuminating device, and an image-scanning device are provided which are excellent in uniformity of the light amount. A light-reflecting portion comprised of tubular concave surfaces becomes a reflecting surface having tubular convex surfaces when seen from the inside of the light guide. With such structure, even when the incident angle of light from a light source unit slightly displaces, the reflection angle in the tubular convex surfaces significantly changes. In an irregular surface having a triangular shape, as in a conventional example, the incident angle becomes almost uniform in the area far from the light source unit, and thereby the reflection angle also becomes uniform. Consequently, it is difficult to achieve uniform reflection in the main-scanning direction. However, with the tubular concave surfaces, light is reflected uniformly toward the upper surface as a light-emitting surface.

  • Publication number: 20060139759
Abstract: A stereoimage formation apparatus includes two lens array plates, each of which includes microlenses having optical axes and peaks. The optical axes of the microlenses are parallel to one another. The optical axes of the microlenses in one of the lens array plates are aligned with the optical axes of the microlenses in the other lens array plate. The peaks of the microlenses in one of the lens array plates come in contact with or are located proximal to the peaks of the microlenses in the other lens array plate. The microlenses of each lens array plate each have a predetermined spherical aberration greater than a predetermined minimum spherical aberration.

  • Publication number: 20060056789
Abstract: A bar-shaped light guide is provided to allow its emitting surface to be exposed from a white casing and is provided with a pattern for scattering and reflecting the light on a bottom surface opposite to the emitting surface. This pattern is formed by a white paint or minute irregularities. Further, an end face of the bar-shaped light guide opposite to the incident side is made cube-corner shaped. In other words, the end face is made chevroned by mirror-finished flat surfaces. These flat surfaces are tilted at such an angle that an incident angle ? of the rays of light traveling through the bar-shaped light guide parallel to the longitudinal direction of the bar-shaped light guide is smaller than a critical angle.

  • Patent number: 6982833
Abstract: A resin lens plate has, on its planar surface, convex lenslets arranged in a regular pattern with adjacent lenslets being apart from each other by a specified center-to-center pitch. Each of the convex lenslets has a rectangular or hexagonal contour in a plan view of the plate, and the lenslets are arranged such that the direction in which the center-to-center distance between adjacent lenslets takes a maximum value is in parallel with the lengthwise side of the plate. A groove or a ridge is formed along the bisector of a center-to-center line drawn between each pair of adjacent lenslets, and a light absorbing film is formed over the groove or the ridge. The groove or ridge inhibits the entry of stray light to the lenslet from adjacent lenslets.

  • Publication number: 20050094937
Abstract: Semi-columnar shaped convex portions are formed on external areas of respective resin lens plates. One semi-columnar shaped convex portion and two semi-columnar shaped convex portions are formed at the top surface of the bottom resin lens plate and the bottom surface of the top resin lens plate, respectively. Then, the top resin lens plate and the bottom resin lens plate are temporarily fixed by matching the one semi-columnar shaped convex portion into the area between the two semi-columnar shaped convex portions. Then, after the temporal fixing, the joints of the resin lens plates are heated and melted to form a welding portion. Then, the top and bottom resin lens plate are welded tightly via the welding portion.

  • Publication number: 20050040321
Abstract: A lens array 4 is formed as an erect 1:1 imaging lens by superimposing two lens plates 40 and 40 together. Each lens plate 40 consists of a number of micro lenses 41 which are regularly provided at a predetermined pitch and in a two-dimensional manner. This lens plate 40 is for example made by press molding the ultraviolet curing resin in a soft condition using a transparent mold and by irradiating the ultraviolet light on the ultraviolet curing resin from outside for hardening. Since the lens array 4 is provided with micro lenses 41 in rows in a sub-scanning direction, deterioration of an amount of light level resulting from the displacement between a light axis of the lens and an image sensor 6 is not generated.
