    Abstract: A fuel injection pump of the type wherein the fuel injection timing is controlled by a timer and a solenoid-operated timing control valve. The timer has a high-pressure chamber and a low-pressure chamber which are defined at both sides, respectively, of a timer piston. The high-pressure chamber communicates with a high-pressure groove formed in the timing control valve through a passage. The low-pressure chamber communicates with the suction side of a feed pump through a low-pressure passage and also communicates with a low-pressure hole formed in the timing control valve through a passage. The timer piston is not provided with a passage mechanism which provides communication between a pump chamber and the high-pressure chamber. The pump chamber communicates directly with the high-pressure groove in the timing control valve through a fixed orifice disposed in the wall of the pump housing and a passage leading to the orifice.

    Abstract: A nuclear excitation laser type intra-reactor neutron flux measuring system of this invention is comprised of a laser oscillator filled with a nuclear exciting gas such as .sup.3 He, KrF or XeF, mounted on the tip of a control rod. The nuclear exciting gas is made into a plasma by the neutrons or the fragments of fissioned nuclei when the tip is positioned in the reactor core by raising the control rod. Since the nuclear exciting gas made into a plasma itself generates a laser beam or amplifies a laser beam projected from the outside, the behavior of neutrons can be monitored in detail after guiding this light response to the light processing system located outside, distinguishing the energies of neutrons from the spectrum and calculating the density and the flux of the neutron in each energy. Furthermore, the detecting sensitivity can be enhanced by forming the responsive membrane made of U.sub.3 O.sub.8 and so on, on the laser oscillator.

    Abstract: Single-sheet printer paper comprises a sheet of paper having a middle portion having the same dimensions as a standard-size sheet of paper, upper and lower holding portions which are integrally formed on the upper and lower edges of the middle portion, and guide lines for cutting which are formed along the borders between the middle portion and the holding portions. In a preferred embodiment, the guide lines are in the form of perforations. A method for using this paper comprises printing over the entire length of the middle portion with a printer and removing the holding portions by shearing along the guide lines so as to obtain a sheet having the same dimensions as a standard-size sheet and which is printed on over its entire length.

    Abstract: A fuel injection pump includes a reciprocating plunger and a control sleeve slidably fitted over the plunger, the prestroke of which is varied by vertical movement of the control sleeve. The control sleeve is provided at its upper end with a fuel discharge groove, through which the fuel contained in a fuel-pressurizing chamber is discharged after the end of injection. The control sleeve also has to pressure escape passage. A variation in the effective stroke allows the pressure of fuel contained in the fuel-pressurizing chamber to be selectively regulated by the pressure escape passage, thereby controlling the pressure of fuel to be injected.

    Abstract: In a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, a control lever shaft interlocked with a governor spring is supported by a pump housing of a fuel injection pump with one and the other ends respectively located interiorly and exteriorly of the pump housing. A control lever for controlling the fuel injection amount is fixedly mounted on the other end of the control lever shaft. A cancel lever connected to an accelerator pedal through an accelerator rod is freely fitted on the other end of the control lever shaft. The control lever and the cancel lever are disposed to abut against each other on a leading side of the cancel lever with reference to the angular movement thereof in a fuel decreasing direction. A cancel spring is connected between the control lever and the cancel lever to allow them to be angularly moved together. A dash pot for restricting the speed of movement of the control lever in a fuel increasing direction is arranged exteriorly of the pump housing.

The engagement portion is disposed in eccentric relation to a body of the coupling shaft for translating rotating motion of the control rod into axial movement of the control sleeve, thereby adjusting the pre-stroke of a plunger. A servo valve is provided in the piston and this servo valve is displaced so as to balance the fuel pressure in the pump chamber and the pressing force of the servo spring and the fuel pressure in the high pressure chamber is controlled.

    Abstract: A servo valve is arranged within a timer piston for displacement in response to fuel pressure variable as a function of the engine rpm. When there occurs a change in the fuel pressure, the servo valve is automatically displaced relative to the timer piston to open a passageway for supplying the above fuel pressure to a hydraulic oil chamber defined at one end of the timer piston to cause displacement of the timer piston for control of injection timing. When there is no change in the fuel pressure, the servo valve is positioned to close the passageway to hold the timer piston stationary. Further, means may be provided for adjusting the setting load of a servo spring urging the valve body of the servo valve against the above fuel pressure.
