  • Patent number: 11845960
Abstract: Forced expression of a handful of transcription factors (TFs) can induce conversions between cell identities; however, the extent to which TFs can alter cell identity has not been systematically assessed. Here, we assembled a human TFome, a comprehensive expression library of 1,578 human TF clones with full coverage of the major TF families. By systematically screening the human TFome, we identified 77 individual TFs that induce loss of human-induced-pluripotent-stem-cell (hiPSC) identity, suggesting a pervasive ability for TFs to alter cell identity. Using large-scale computational cell type classification trained on thousands of tissue expression profiles, we identified cell types generated by these TFs with high efficiency and speed, without additional selections or mechanical perturbations. TF expression in adult human tissues only correlated with some of the cell lineage generated, suggesting more complexity than observation studies can explain.

  • Patent number: 11843663
Abstract: A logical clock is implemented in networked nodes. Messages between nodes can include either a scalar timestamp or a vector timestamp. The scalar timestamp leads to an overhead reduction, and nodes can select whether to send a scalar or vector timestamp depending on requirements. Message recipients update their logical clock vector differently depending on whether the scalar or vector timestamp is received. Applications to multi-master databases are also provided. The clock conforms to Lamport clock requirements when the scalar timestamp is sent, and conforms to both Lamport and vector clock requirements when the vector timestamp is sent.

  • Patent number: 11819734
Abstract: A system and method for implementing a virtual fitness application are disclosed. Embodiments may be built for various platforms, including web browsers and mobile phones. One embodiment uses pose estimation to count the repetitive motions of a fitness activity (e.g., running). In one embodiment, to count the repetitive motions, a repetitive motion counting process is used that is based on computing differences of Y-coordinates of key points of the user. The repetitive motion counting process includes selecting a proper pose of the user; computing one or more delta values (corresponding to Y-coordinate changes of the key points); and counting a given user movement as a repetitive motion based on a function (e.g., average) of the delta values. One embodiment uses the pose estimation and repetitive motion count results to provide a gamified experience, for example, a leaderboard, a stats report, instant visual feedback, badges, coins, and a social experience.

  • Publication number: 20230368655
Abstract: Apparatus and method for determining the validity of an infrared signal of a remote-control device. An infrared signal comprising pulses representing data corresponding to a function of a controllable target device is received from a remote-control device. The received infrared signal is passed through a capacitor of the apparatus such that, for each pulse of the infrared signal, the capacitor is charged and subsequently discharged. The capacitor discharge time associated with each pulse of the infrared signal is measured by a processor of the apparatus to establish a discharge sequence. The processor of the apparatus compares the established discharge sequence with a plurality of pre-determined valid discharge patterns and determine the validity of the received infrared signal based on the outcome of the comparison of the established discharge sequence with the plurality of pre-determined discharge patterns.
