  • Patent number: 6434432
Abstract: A method for acceptance filtering incoming CAN frames, in a CAN device that provides a plurality of message objects each of which has an associated message buffer, at least one associated match ID register, and at least one associated mask register. The method includes the steps of extracting a multi-bit screener ID field from a received CAN frame, and then comparing the extracted screener ID field to a respective, user-specified multi-bit match ID field stored in the at least one match ID register associated with each enabled one of the message objects designated to be a receive message object, wherein the at least one mask register associated with each enabled message object designated to be a receive message object stores a user-specified, multi-bit mask field that masks selected bits of the corresponding match ID field, the masked bits being excluded from the comparisons.

  • Publication number: 20020097722
Abstract: An implementation of a technology, described herein, for transmitting compressed network transport-layer-protocol headers in a speedy, efficient, inferentially synchronized, and robust manner. An implementation, described herein, models the transmission of compressed headers to the congestion procedure of the network transport-layer protocol (e.g., TCP's). Doing so, the sender of the compressed headers can infer whether the receiver correctly received them. Unlike the slow direct synchronization employed by conventional schemes, this implementation of the present claimed invention inferentially synchronizes by modeling after the congestion procedure of the network transport-layer protocol. This is inherently faster than direct synchronization. Since the implementation performs well over both noiseless and noisy links, it is particularly suited to use over wireless communications channels. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent.

  • Patent number: 6315610
Abstract: An electrical connector (100) mountable on a bottom side of a PCB (200) includes a dielectric housing (40), a plurality of terminals (50) retained in the housing, and a shielding case (130) covering the housing. The shielding case has a front section (20) with an upwardly protruding orientation key (210), a rear section (30) and a covering section (10). The covering section is formed from one piece of metal sheet and provides a pair of side walls (12), a transverse wall (11) interconnected therebetween, two metal feet (120) projecting upwardly from corresponding side walls for securing the connector to the PCB and a detent lock (110) formed in a middle of the transverse wall bending inwardly and rearwardly for providing a retention force against a mating complementary connector.

  • Patent number: 5923050
Abstract: An amorphous silicon thin-film transistor as a switching element for a thin-film transistor liquid crystal display, having improved characteristics by making better an ohmic contact layer and an active layer, and a method of fabricating the same are provided. A wide energy-band gap .mu.c-Si(:Cl) fabricated using a mixed gas including SiH.sub.2 Cl.sub.2 is used as the ohmic contact layer, so that yield and productivity can be improved. The active layer is formed of .mu.c-Si:H(:Cl) with low hydrogen content and high stability. Off-current during illumination is sharply decreased, to thereby remarkably reduce leakage current when illumination is performed by backlighting.

  • Patent number: 5426618
Abstract: Excellent likeness of impulse response function r.sub.o (t) of a given linear space is obtained by exciting the space through a transmitting transducer with a compressible probing signal x(t) which is a string of lowpass narrow p(t)-wavelets polarity-controlled by a single cycle of an m-sequence and processing received raw-data by cross-correlating it with a special reference s(t) which is cyclical repetition of the same m-sequence. Cross-correlating x(t) directly with s(t) yields compressed version of x(t) (denoted e(t)) which is p(t) multiplied by length of the m-sequence. e(t) equivalently excites the space to give processed output which is the likeness of r.sub.o (t). e(t) is free from side-lobes and readily made arbitrarily slim by choosing p(t) slim; keeping duration and energy of x(t) fixed, e(t) characterizes an area invariant of the slimness of e(t) or p(t).

  • Patent number: 5033720
Abstract: A torsion pendulum apparatus and a dialometer are combined for simultaneous measurement of the internal friction and the expansion of an alloy. The combination is controlled by a programmable controller so as to conduct in-situ measurements of the internal friction and the expansion of a metal during its phase transformation or specific heat treatment. The results of the internal friction measurement and the expansion measurement can be checked and assumed by one another so that more accurate and detailed information can be obtained for the study of metal alloys.
