  • Patent number: 9350665
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is provided for congestion mitigation. In this method, a congestion level of data flows along a path is monitored relative to a threshold. Here, each data flow is associated with a flow identifier. Based on detection that the congestion level exceeds the threshold, the flow identifier of a number (e.g., one or more) of the data flows is changed to a different flow identifier. This change results in the number of the data flows redirected to a different path. In an alternate embodiment, another method is provided for congestion avoidance. In this method, a data flow transmitted along a single path is received, and the data flow is split into multiple micro data flows. A different flow identifier is then assigned to each micro data flow. This change results in the multiple micro data flows distributed along multiple different paths.

  • Patent number: 9335485
Abstract: The multiple channel fiber optic rotary joint of this invention can transmit an increased number of optical signals simultaneously through the de-rotating mechanism without increasing the size of the de-rotating mechanism. It also allows for the recapturing of the signals with relative ease. This is accomplished through the use of an optical condenser and/or an optical expander that reduces or expands the overall all beam structure without significantly altering the relative structure. The expanders and condensers are inverse structures in that if an optical signal is condensed when passing from right to light through the condenser it is expanded when passing left to right through the same condenser.

  • Publication number: 20160112337
Abstract: Dynamically by-passing a service function instance on a service chain after the service function instance has processed the first few packets of a traffic flow may improve the overall processing efficiency of the service chain. When using a control plane mechanism, a service function instance communicates a by-pass indication to a control plane entity to prompt the control plane entity to re-route remaining portions of the traffic flow around the service function instance. When using a data plane mechanism, a service function instance includes a by-pass indication in a service chain header (SCH) of a packet in a traffic flow, and forwards the packet to a data plane entity. The by-pass indication will prompt the data plane entity to re-route remaining portions of the traffic flow around the service function instance.

  • Patent number: 9318959
Abstract: A controller circuit for the control of a power converter is disclosed. An example controller circuit generates a waveform that drives a switch that controls the power converter. The controller circuit includes a divider module that generates a modification factor based on a ratio of the two input signals of the module. The circuit includes a module that generates a first waveform configured for a critical conducting mode of operation of a power converter and an on-time adjuster module that modifies the first waveform based on the modification factor and generates a second waveform. The second waveform is delivered to the switch. An example modification factor is the ratio of the output voltage to the rectified input voltage of the power converter.

  • Patent number: 9306446
Abstract: A fault protection and correction circuit for the control of a power converter is disclosed. An example circuit generates a waveform that drives a switch on or off and controls the power converter. The controller circuit in addition to power factor correction (PFC) circuitry includes a first and a second shut down mode modules, both of them cause the switching to stop. The circuit includes a module for receiving fault events. When a fault occurs, the controller enters the second shut down mode. The controller stays in the second shut down mode if the required current for this mode can be provided by the outside circuitry. Otherwise, the controller enters the first shut down mode that requires less current and subsequently restarts the controller. By modifying the outside circuitry the controller can respond differently to fault events.

  • Publication number: 20160063528
Abstract: An approach for providing contextually relevant digital coupons on a user device is disclosed. A selection platform initiates a request for a digital coupon based on a first movement sensed at a device. A coupon category based on the request is determined and the digital coupon is selected. The selected digital coupon is then delivered to the device based on the request. Further, another or subsequent movement sensed at the device initiates another request for another digital coupon. The another digital coupon is selected from the determined coupon category.

  • Patent number: 9263838
Abstract: The current invention is regarding a slip ring for transmitting high speed electrical signal across a rotating interface, especially for transmitting Ethernet data. It consists of sandwich assembly with multiple conducting plates individually sandwiched by multiple insulating spacers and a brush block assembly with multiple conducting brushes. The input Ethernet cable is attached on said sandwich assembly and the wires from input cable can be individually soldered into the central hole of each conducting plate (The wires are always off-centered in prior art). The output Ethernet cable is soldered on said brush block. Said brush block assembly and said sandwich assembly are rotatable relative to each other through bearings to form a rotational interface. As a result, high speed electrical signal can be transmitted across the rotating interface without suffering from phase shift and data distortion as in prior arts due to unequal path lengths.

  • Publication number: 20160043952
Abstract: A novel scheme is defined for supporting service graphs to allow specific service functions to be applied to selected subsets of packet flows. According to one or more embodiments, a service graph is modeled as chains or sequences of “flow steering entities” and “service instances.” According to an embodiment, a flow steering entity (FSE) is configured to identify the flow, and select the next hop service instance in the chain. After a service instance returns the flow packet, the FSE steers the packet to the next FSE in the graph. An initial FSE is used to select matching traffic to enter the service graph. Wherever path forking and merging is required in the service graph, additional classifiers are positioned with the FSE to steer a subset of traffic along different paths of service function instances.

  • Publication number: 20160028640
Abstract: Metadata may be embedded in a service chain header (SCH) appended to a packet that is forwarded over a service chain path. The metadata may include information that is used to process the packet at a downstream service function chain (SFC) entity on the service chain path. The metadata TLV field may identify a service action to be performed by a downstream SFC entity. For example, the metadata TLV field may instruct the downstream SFC entity to drop the packet, to redirect the packet (or a traffic flow associated with the packet), to mirror a traffic flow, to terminate a communication connection, to start or stop a packet accounting, and/or to apply a higher grade of service. In another embodiment, the metadata TLV field specifies an OAM service action list that identifies service actions that have been performed on the packet.
