  • Patent number: 7782820
Abstract: In a method of detecting whether a transmitted data frame is a discontinuous transmission (DTX) frame, a signal metric corresponding to the transmitted data frame is generated in a decoding operation used to decode the data frame from a signal carrying the frame that is received by a base station receiver. A signal energy of the transmitted data frame is determined based on the signal metric, and used for determining whether the transmitted data frame is a DTX frame.

  • Patent number: 7729454
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for signal phase variation detection in communication systems are presented. Aspects of the system may enable detection of phase change between a current received symbol, and one or more previous received symbols. • Patent number: 7697596
Abstract: A system for processing radio frequency (RF) signals includes a searcher and a plurality of Cluster Path Processor (CPPs). The searcher detects a maximum signal energy level and position of at least one of a plurality of individual distinct path signals in a signal cluster of a first information signal, wherein at least a portion of the plurality of individual distinct path signals is received within a duration of a corresponding delay spread. The sampling position is used as a starting sampling location by the plurality of CPPs, including a first information signal CPP and a second information signal CPP. Fine sampling positions of the plurality of CPPs are based upon channel energy estimates for the plurality of individual distinct path signals. CPP outputs are employed to produce channel estimates, which are themselves used in subsequent equalization operations. Sampling positions may change over time in order to satisfy alignment criteria.

  • Publication number: 20100057475
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for digital gain control in an audio CODEC are provided. In this regard, in a hardware audio CODEC, a plurality of gain values in decibel format may be generated and may be summed to generate an overall gain value in decibels. Gain values may be ramped over a plurality of audio samples. The overall gain value in decibels may then be utilized to scale one or more audio signals. A first portion of the overall gain value in decibels may be converted to a scalar and a remaining portion of the overall gain value in decibels may be converted to a shift count. Accordingly, the scaling may comprise multiplying one or more audio signals by the scalar to generate one or more scaled audio signals and shifting the scaled audio signals by a number of bits equal to the shift count.

  • Publication number: 20100057474
Abstract: In a hardware audio CODEC which processes audio signals from a plurality of inputs, voltage and/or power levels of the input audio signals may be adjusted such that the digitally adjusted levels are approximately equal for each of the plurality of inputs. • Publication number: 20100054498
Abstract: In a method and system for audio level detection and control, an amplitude of an audio signal may be compared to a threshold and an attenuation applied to the audio signal may be adjusted based on the comparison. In instances that the amplitude of the audio signal is greater than or equal to the threshold the adjustment may comprise increasing a first attenuation factor until the amplitude of the audio signal is less than the threshold. The first attenuation factor may be subsequently decreased until the amplitude of the audio signal is greater than or equal to the threshold or until the first attenuation factor is equal to zero. The attenuation of the audio signal may be controlled via a digital gain circuit within the hardware audio CODEC, wherein an overall attenuation factor of the digital gain circuit is a sum of the first attenuation factor and a second attenuation factor.
