  • Patent number: 6956855
Abstract: There are provided an apparatus and method for retransmitting data according to a radio link protocol in a mobile communication system. In the method of requesting frame retransmission, a receiver stores the sequence numbers of a plurality of RLP (Radio Link Protocol) frames that are not received from a transmitter and transmits a retransmission request frame including fields that indicate the sequence numbers. Then, the transmitter sequentially transmits the requested RLP frames in the order of the sequence numbers to the receiver. The receiver compares the stored sequence numbers with the sequence numbers of received RLP frames and if it receiver fails to receive one of the requested RLP frames, the receiver requests retransmission of the lost RLP frame upon receipt of an RLP frame of a higher sequence number than the sequence number of the lost RLP frame.

  • Publication number: 20050026642
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for handing-off a mobile station receiving packet data over a second channel from a first base station system (BSS) to a second BSS by a base station controller (BSC) in a system in which the mobile station communicates with the first BSS and the second BSS adjacent to the first BSS through a first channel for transmitting a control message, and the mobile station communicates with the first BSS through the second channel for transmitting the packet data. In the method the mobile station measures receiving strengths of pilot channels transmitted from the first BSS and the second BSS, and transmits the measured receiving strengths to the BSC through the first BSS and the second BSS. The first and second BSSs each calculate available transmission power allocable to the second channel and transmits the calculated available transmission power to the BSC.

  • Patent number: 6850508
Abstract: A device for generating a block sequence number in a communication system for transmitting frames comprised of a block sequence number and a succeeding data field. The block sequence number is assigned to every block unit corresponding to a multiple of the byte to transmit the increased number of data bits, so that the data bits in at least one of the frames can be verified in byte unit at a receiving side. A difference D is calculated between a first byte sequence number A of m bits indicating a first byte of transmission data and a second byte sequence number B of m bits indicating data of the first byte in a second block succeeding a first block to which the transmission data belongs. The first byte sequence number A is converted to a block sequence number of n bits smaller in number than m bits using difference D.

  • Patent number: 6834047
Abstract: There is provided a data communication apparatus and method in a multi-carrier CDMA communication system. A transmitting device determines whether a supplemental channel is transmitted. If the supplemental channel is transmitted, the transmitting device assigns the supplemental channel to each of all FAs having different carrier frequency bands and the other channels including a fundamental channel, a dedicated control channel, and a common control channel to one of the FAs. A receiving device determines whether the supplemental channel exists in input channel signals. If the supplemental channel exists, the receiving device despreads supplemental channel signals in each of the FAs, connects the despread supplemental channel signals to a supplemental channel decoder, despreads the other channels in one of the FAs, and connects the other channel signals to corresponding channel decoders.

Abstract: A photodetector device includes a doped semiconductor substrate. A first intrinsic semiconductor material layer, a main reflector, a second intrinsic semiconductor material layer, an upper semiconductor material layer, which is doped the opposite as the substrate, are formed in succession on the semiconductor substrate. An upper electrode is formed on and electrically connected with the upper semiconductor layer, and a lower electrode is electrically connected to the semiconductor substrate. One of the intrinsic semiconductor layers is relatively thin to absorb incident light, while the other is relatively thick. The photodetector device, a p-i-n photodetector, has an I region including the intrinsic semiconductor layers with different thicknesses, and a main reflector therebetween. The thickness of the entire I region can be increased with a reduced transit distance for holes.
