  • Patent number: 9091425
Abstract: The invention provides a heat-conducting and heat-dissipating nano-material, a method for preparation thereof and a heat-dissipating system. The method comprises the following steps: i) mixing a complex formed by a high molecular material and a substance having heat conduction and heat dissipation properties with tert-butyl acetate and 4-Chlorobenzotrifluoride, wherein the complex is of nano scale in particle size; and ii) placing a mixture obtained from step i) into water and stirring the mixture in water for a period of time to afford the heat-conducting and heat-dissipating material. Application of the heat-conducting and heat-dissipating material in a heat-dissipating system of LED light may simplify the manufacturing process, save raw materials used and reduce weight and size of heat sink of the heat-dissipating system.

  • Patent number: 9095082
Abstract: In a method for manufacturing multilayer PCBs having n circuit layers, a flexible substrate strip is provided. The strip comprises a number of PCB units, each comprising n segmental portions. The strip is treated in a reel to reel process to form traces in n?2 segmental portions of each of the PCB units, the other two segmental portions are left untreated without traces. Then the strip is cut to obtain a number of separated PCB units. The PCB unit is folded in such a manner that the n?2 segmental portions having traces are arranged between the other two segmental portions without traces. The folded PCB unit is laminated to form a multilayer substrate and traces are formed in the two segmental portions.

  • Patent number: 9093265
Abstract: One embodiment is a method for semiconductor processing. In this method, a precursor film is provided over a semiconductor substrate, where the precursor film is made of a structural former and porogen. Prior to cross-linking, the porogen is removed by exposure to UV radiation having one or more wavelengths in the range of 150 nm to 300 nm, while a temperature of 300° C. to 500° C. is applied to the semiconductor substrate. Meanwhile, a Argon:Helium flow rate of 80>Ar>10 slm, 80>He>10 slm is set for the ambient substrate environment where the ratio of Ar:He ranges from 0:1 to 1:0 by volume or molality.

  • Patent number: 9093591
Abstract: Embodiments generally relate to optoelectronic semiconductor devices such as solar cells. In one aspect, a device includes an absorber layer made of gallium arsenide (GaAs) and having only one type of doping. An emitter layer is located closer than the absorber layer to a back side of the device and is made of a different material and having a higher bandgap than the absorber layer. A heterojunction is formed between the emitter layer and the absorber layer, and a p-n junction is formed between the emitter layer and the absorber layer and at least partially within the different material at a location offset from the heterojunction. An intermediate layer is located between the absorber layer and the emitter layer and provides the offset of the p-n junction from the heterojunction, and includes a graded layer and an ungraded back window layer.

  • Patent number: 9089285
Abstract: An activity monitor such as a wrist-worn device has an accelerometer which continuously detects motion of the user. The activity monitor also has an on-demand heart rate monitor which is activated by the user touching it from time to time. A calorie expenditure based on the motion of the user can be modified based on a heart rate measurement. Further, a determination can be made as to whether the user has made repetitive motions for a period of time. If the repetitive motions are detected, a calorie expenditure based on the heart rate is determined and compared to the calorie expenditure based on the user motion, and the higher value prevails. A situation is avoided in which the activity monitor underestimates the calories expended, such as when the user is exercising strenuously but the accelerometer indicates relatively little motion, e.g., during strength training.

  • Patent number: 9092013
Abstract: Time-to-digital converters (TDC) with improved resistance to metastability are provided. The TDC includes a ring oscillator gated by a start signal. A stop signal triggers capturing values of phase signals from the ring oscillator using master-slave flip-flops. Signals from two of the master stages of the flip-flops are logically combined to produce a counter clock signal that causes a counter to count. The outputs of the flip-flops and of the counter are encoded to produce a digital representation of the time between transitions of the start signal and the stop signal. Since the signals from the master stages of flip-flops are captured (and stop toggling) by the stop signal, the counter clock signal stops toggling, and the counter stops counting. This assures that the values of the captured phase signals and the counter are consistent and avoids metastability errors that could otherwise occur.

  • Patent number: 9092568
Abstract: A system for automatically instrumenting and tracing an application program and related software components achieves a correlated tracing of the program execution. It includes tracing of endpoints that are the set of functions in the program execution path that the developers are interested. The tracing endpoints and related events become the total set of functions to be traced in the program (called instrument points). This invention automatically analyzes the program and generates such instrumentation points to enable correlated tracing. The generated set of instrumentation points addresses common questions that developers ask when they use monitoring tools.
