The character display method includes: obtaining a to-be-displayed character; determining a display position of the to-be-displayed character in a screen based on a current timestamp; displaying a dynamic character effect at the display position; and displaying the to-be-displayed character at the display position after a first time has lapsed. In the embodiments of the present disclosure, the display position of the to-be-displayed character is determined based on the timestamp and the dynamic character effect is displayed before displaying the to-be-displayed character. Thus, the character can be displayed in a more dynamical and flexible manner.
