Abstract: Microorganisms for lowering blood ammonia level and composition for protecting neuronal cells containing the same, particularly relates to microbes or a symbiotic pair that has a neuroprotective function by lowering blood ammonia levels or reducing ammonia levels in the body and composition for protecting neuronal cells comprising the microbes. The microorganisms having a neuroprotective function by lowering the blood ammonia level can be selected from the group that include, but not limited to, a Lactobacillus sp. strain and a Streptococcus sp. strain. The ammonia removal strains and the composition have a neuroprotective effect by their excellent ability to remove neurotoxic ammonia, and thus can be widely used as a preventive or therapeutic agent for hyperammonemia and neurological diseases caused thereby.

  • Publication number: 20220362355
Abstract: Provided is a thrombolytic agent for ‘intravascular thrombus’, and more particularly, to a thrombolytic agent having a thrombo-recognition domain and a thrombolytic domain. It also relates to a polypeptide for thrombolysis of an intravascular thrombus, a gene for that polypeptide, and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same. The polypeptide that recognizes ‘intravascular thrombus’ and dissolves thrombus of the present invention is characterized in that it consists of a thrombolytic domain comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 2 and a thrombo-recognition domain comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 3 or SEQ ID NO: 4. According to the present invention, the polypeptide for dissolving thrombus by recognizing ‘intravascular thrombus’ dissolves thrombus in the blood of a mammal without serious bleeding side effects has a preventive and therapeutic effect on thrombosis, thus preventing thrombosis and related diseases.

  • Publication number: 20220163513
Abstract: The disclosure provides methods, systems and related software, for automated or semi-automated sorting and/or isolating cells with visually distinguishable phenotypes. In some embodiments, the methods comprise providing a plurality cells with a photo-activatable detectable marker in their respective nuclei. The plurality of cells are imaged and, based on the image, the status for one or more visually identifiable phenotypes are determined. Cells determined to have the desired phenotype status are specifically exposed to a light wavelength for a time sufficient to uniquely activate the photo-activatable detectable marker in the individual cells with the desired phenotype status. The cells are then sorted on the basis of the activated detectable marker. The disclosure also provides methods for preparation and isolation of nuclei from fixed, adherent cells for analysis.

  • Publication number: 20210236637
Abstract: Disclosed are a sensitizing composition for thermal cancer therapy using electromagnetic waves and a method of treating cancer using the composition. The sensitizing composition includes a metal ion, a metal ion-bound material, “metal ion-noncovalently bound apotransferrin” (transferrin), or a metal ion-noncovalently bound apotransferrin derivative. The sensitizing composition enables selective delivery of the metal ion to tumorous tissue when administered in vivo, and thus the generation of heat in tumorous tissue in which the metal ion accumulates is increased upon thermal cancer therapy using electromagnetic waves, thereby maximizing efficacy of thermal cancer therapy using electromagnetic waves in treating cancer.
