  • Publication number: 20030007480
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for retransmitting data in a mobile communication system. A MAC-h (Medium Access Control-high speed) layer transmits, to an RLC (Radio Link Control) layer, received data and information on whether a retransmission process on errored data is being performed, thereby to prevent the RLC layer from performing duplicated retransmission on the errored data.

  • Publication number: 20030002470
Abstract: A method of adjusting the transmission time of data in a CDMA communication system. A UE (User Equipment) measures the time difference between the received time of a downlink DPCH (Dedicated Physical Channel) and the transmitted time of an uplink DPCH and reports it to an RNC (Radio Network Controller). The RNC transmits transmission time adjustment information to a node B and the UE if the time difference is out of a predetermined range. The node B then adjusts the transmission time of the downlink DPCH according to the transmission time adjustment information and transmits the downlink DPCH at the adjusted time. The UE receives the downlink DPCH by adjusting a search time for the downlink DPCH according to the transmission time adjustment information.

  • Publication number: 20030002472
Abstract: A method for transmitting information in a mobile communication system using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) service. When an RNC (Radio Network Controller) generates or changes HSDPA service-related information, it transmits the generated or changed information to a Node B and a UE along with an indicator indicating the change in the HSDPA service information. Therefore, the Node B and the UE simultaneously operate by receiving the generated or changed information, resulting in an increase in the HSDPA service efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20020186798
Abstract: An apparatus and method for channel encoding/decoding are provided which vary an iterative decoding number according to service type, data class and channel condition. A message information receiver receives information about a message to be received. A controller determines an iterative decoding number according to the message information received. A decoder iteratively decodes the received message according to the determined iterative decoding number. The message information includes a class of received data, and the class includes a bit error rate (BER). The iterative decoding number is increased for a low BER as compared to a predetermined BER. Further, the class includes a permissible time delay, and the iterative decoding number is increased for a long permissible time delay as compared to a predetermined permissible time delay.

  • Patent number: 6418330
Abstract: A radio terminal which generates various, selectable ring tones suitable to the user's preference. A ring tone generating device includes a ring tone input device for receiving ring tones input from a user; a ring tone storage for storing the ring tones input from the ring tone input device; a ring tone generator for generating one of the ring tones stored in the ring tone storage, selected by the user, under the control of a controller; and the controller for generating the ring tone selected by the user through the ring tone generator, upon reception of an incoming call. The ring tone is any one of a voice, music and a sound.

  • Patent number: 6397367
Abstract: A channel coding device is disclosed. In the device, a bit inserter inserts known bits in an input data bit stream at predetermined positions. A channel coder codes the bit-inserted data bit stream to generate coded symbols. A rate matcher matches a rate of the coded symbols to a given channel symbol rate. A channel interleaver interleaves the rate matched channel symbols. The rate matcher includes a puncturer for puncturing the inserted known bits included in the coded symbols when the coded symbol rate is higher than the given channel symbol rate. The rate matcher includes a repeater for repeating the coded symbols to match the coded symbol rate to the given channel symbol rate when the coded symbol rate is lower than the given channel symbol rate.

  • Publication number: 20020060996
Abstract: An apparatus and method for phase modulating SYNC codes transmitted over downlink pilot time slots DwPTSs when a primary common control physical channel P-CCPCH is transmitted using transmit diversity in an NB-TDD CDMA mobile communication system. The apparatus and method transmits and receives the P-CCPCH signal using the transmit diversity by providing a diversity indicator for changing phase variation of the SYNC codes included in the DwPTSs.

  • Publication number: 20020018530
Abstract: A transmission antenna diversity method, and a base station apparatus and a mobile station apparatus therefor in a mobile communication system are provided. In the transmission antenna diversity method, channel information is measured from signals received through the plurality of antennas used in the base station, and a channel information matrix is output. The channel information matrix is transformed according to a transform matrix composed of a complex basis vector set. Reception power with respect to the plurality of antennas is calculated based on the transformed channel information matrix. Antenna selection information obtained based on the calculated reception power is transmitted to the base station as feedback information for controlling transmission antenna diversity. Therefore, power is equally distributed to transmitting antennas, excellent performance is maintained at a high speed of movement, and reliable channel adaptation is accomplished at a low speed of movement of the mobile station.
