  • Patent number: 6814363
Abstract: A vehicle suspension system wherein the main attachment to the chassis of the steering and suspension components is by the king pin mounting. The suspension system includes a first member attached directly to a shaft rotating with the chassis attachment; a second member attached to the first member by a swivel joint or a bush, allowing vertical movement of a stub axle attached solidly to the second member; and a third member attached to the first member which acts as the steering arm connection and load transference support for the forth member, a telescopic shock absorber and spring unit. The stub axle being at right angles to the king pin. Use of the suspension system allows a lessening or elimination of the toeing in or out of the wheels which commonly occurs with the vertical movement of the wheel.

  • Publication number: 20040195013
Abstract: There are two basic methods of steering a wheeled vehicle. One method is to turn one or more steerable wheels. The other is to drive one or more left hand wheels independently of one or more right hand wheels. Traditional vehicles address the potential conflict between to two steering systems by either disabling one system or by causing one to overpower the other. This leads to skidding or scuffing problems respectively. In the present invention both steering systems are enabled but are integrated by means of an on board computer so that they always act in unison. This mutual reinforcement will allow the invention to operate safely on steep or slippery slopes while minimising fuel consumption and ground damage. The invention will also be more manoeuvrable than traditional vehicles since it is capable of both pure rotation and pure translation or any combination of rotation and translation.

  • Publication number: 20040115565
Abstract: In a method for patterning a layer of a low dielectric constant material a surface imaging material is applied on a layer of a low dielectric constant material. A pattern is then defined in the surface imaging material. Next, the patterned surface imaging material is hardened so that the patterned surface imaging material functions as a hard mask. If the patterned surface imaging material has silicon incorporated therein, then the material may be hardened by exposure to an oxygen containing plasma. Otherwise, the patterned surface imaging material may be hardened by incorporating silicon into the material, e.g., by silylation, and exposing the material to an oxygen containing plasma. Thereafter, the pattern defined in the surface imaging material is transferred to the layer of the low dielectric constant material.

  • Publication number: 20040078782
Abstract: In a workload managed system comprising a plurality of server processes each capable of supporting a given program entity, such as an Enterprise JavaBeans™ specified stateful session bean, a stateful session bean instance is passivated, by writing it to a bean store, on completion of a unit of work. On next use the session bean is reactivated, by reading it from the bean store, in any one of the plurality of servers thereby allowing workload management for stateful session beans. A routing table is maintained, in non-volatile mass storage, that contains location information for units of work and stateful session bean instances, used to maintain unit of work-server affinity for the lifetime of the unit of work Stateful session beans instances are associated with ID keys that include a flag that is used to indicate whether or not the routing table contains location information for the bean instance.

  • Publication number: 20040068428
Abstract: A business process software application (5) is arranged to perform a composite business process (10) which includes a number of business function components (20, 30), each of which is executable in order to provide a business software function. The business process application uses a temporal layout manager (40) to instantiate an executor (50, 60) for managing the execution of the business function components, such that the business function components (20, 30) are executed in an order defined by a user via the temporal layout manager (40) in order to perform the composite business process (10). In this way complex event handling for the coordination of the business function components is achieved by a simplified user interface for the selection of those activities.

  • Publication number: 20040041739
Abstract: A wireless communication device coupled to a wave antenna that provides greater increased durability and impedance matching. The wave antenna is a conductor that is bent in alternating sections to form peaks and valleys. The wireless communication device is coupled to the wave antenna to provide wireless communication with other communication devices, such as an interrogation reader. The wireless communication device and wave antenna may be placed on objects, goods, or other articles of manufacture that are subject to forces such that the wave antenna may be stretched or compressed during the manufacture and/or use of such object, good or article of manufacture. The wave antenna, because of its bent structure, is capable of stretching and compressing more easily than other structures, reducing the wireless communication device's susceptibility to damage or breaks that might render the wireless communication device coupled to the wave antenna unable to properly communicate information wirelessly.
