  • Publication number: 20100303091
Abstract: The embodiments described herein present methods and apparatus for dynamically assigning values in a network. A method includes receiving, at a designated value allocator from a network node, a first broadcast message using a link-state protocol. The method then identifies the first broadcast message as including a request to associate a parameter value to the network node and allocates an assigned parameter value to the network node based on the identification of the request included in the first broadcast message. A message that includes the assigned parameter value is then transmitted to the network node. Other embodiments are described.

  • Patent number: 7840211
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method of modifying policy settings in a network having a plurality of subscriber devices. An embodiment includes a plurality of base stations, each capable of wirelessly transmitting across a geographic region and a server. A cell-phone, capable of roaming between regions, is operable to establish a wireless link with the base stations and through the base stations, with the server. The network contains a communication policy determining from which other communication devices a subscriber device can receive voice calls. The communication policy is updated, by the server, based on requests from the subscriber devices. Once a request is received from a subscriber device, the determination whether to update the communication policy can be based on a record of rejections respective to the caller requested to be blocked.

  • Patent number: 7831236
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use in securely provisioning a mobile communication device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) having a plurality of wireless access points (APs) are described. In one illustrative method, a provisioning procedure is performed between the mobile communication device and the WLAN via the provisioning wireless AP while the mobile communication device is positioned within a provisioning radio frequency (RF) coverage region of the provisioning wireless AP. However, the provisioning RF coverage region is otherwise confined so that a plurality of other mobile communication devices of the WLAN are restricted from access therefrom during the provisioning procedure. The provisioning RF coverage region may be confined by providing the provisioning wireless AP within a secured room, by providing an electromagnetic shield around the provisioning wireless AP, or both, as examples.

  • Publication number: 20100269543
Abstract: A gravity bending mould for bending glass sheets is disclosed. The gravity bending mould comprises an intermediate mould having an intermediate movable mould section and a final mould having a final movable mould section. Each movable mould section is movable between an operable position and an inoperable position respectively. The intermediate and final movable mould sections are adapted successively to engage a glass sheet during a gravity bending operation. There is a mechanical connection between the intermediate and final movable mould sections, the mechanical connection being selectively disposable in a first configuration, at which the intermediate and final movable mould sections are in the operable and inoperable positions respectively, and in a second configuration, at which the final and intermediate movable mould sections are in the operable position and inoperable positions respectively.

  • Publication number: 20100262949
Abstract: An automatic relationship selector can be used with complex visualized modeling languages, such as Unified Modeling Language, to help users obtain appropriate relationship types for connectors. The selector automatically selects a connector relationship type based on relationship selection criteria which may include element types, an implicit default, an explicit default, and/or a heuristic default. A user can manually override automatically selected connector relationship type assignments. A helper lets a user set aggregation and other connector relationship properties. Automatic relationship type selection is done in-place while a connector is being positioned, to maintain the user interface's focus on the design diagram and avoid interrupting the user's design drafting flow.

  • Publication number: 20100238788
Abstract: In one embodiment, a connection verification (CV) message is initiated from an initiating maintenance end point (MEP) for an MPLS LSP, the CV message carried in a packet having a time-to-live (TTL) value of 1. Each maintenance intermediate point (MIP) along the MPLS LSP receives the packet and decrements the TTL, and in response to determining that the TTL equals 0, examines a payload of the packet to determine that the packet carries the CV message. The MIP may then append its MIP ID to a route record field of the payload having any previous MIP IDs of upstream MIPs, and forwards the CV message downstream along the MPLS LSP in a packet having a TTL value of 1. The end MEP receives the CV message, and sends a CV reply having the route record field with MIP IDs and an end MEP ID to the initiating MEP.

  • Patent number: 7792991
Abstract: A method is described of advertising a link cost in a data communication network having as components nodes and links. A node detects a change of state of an adjacent component. The change of state can be between an activated and a deactivated state or vice versa. The node varies an associated link cost by an incremental value and advertises the varied cost.

  • Patent number: 7743617
Abstract: A noise control method is provided for a cooling system having at least one refrigerant circuit. The refrigerant circuit includes a compressor, a condenser, at least one condenser fan, and an evaporator. Noise control is only performed periodically in response to requirements for reduced operation at predetermined times. The request for reduced noise triggers the commencement of the noise control method. The noise control method involves reducing the operating speed of the compressor, as well as reducing the operating speed of at least one condenser fan, to within a predetermined range of allowable reduced operating speeds. The noise control method temporarily overrides the ability of the cooling system to fully respond to increased cooling or heating demands.

  • Publication number: 20100119359
Abstract: A steam turbine with an operating temperature of more than 650° C. includes a thermally highly-loaded housing (G) which is produced by a casting technique at least partially from a nickel-based alloy. Production of such a steam turbine is simplified by the housing (G) being divided into a multiplicity of smaller housing sections (G1, . . . , G8; G21, G22, G31, G32) which are interconnected and together form the housing (G).

  • Patent number: 7707307
Abstract: A method is disclosed for constructing a backup route from a source node around an adjacent component. The source node derives a first set of nodes reachable from it without traversing the adjacent component and a second set of nodes from which a neighbor node of adjacent components is reachable without traversing the adjacent component. The source node then constructs a backup route via an intermediate node in the intersection of the first and second sets.

  • Patent number: 7701845
Abstract: An apparatus is described for forwarding data in a data communications network having as components nodes and links therebetween in which nodes obtain a reachability metric between a neighbor node and one or more other nodes in the network and in which a repair path is created between an instigating repair node and a receiving repair node around a failure component therebetween. A propagatable repair address for the receiving repair node is reachable by the repair path notvia the failure component. The apparatus is arranged to treat propagatability of the repair address differently via the failure component than via other components.
