  • Patent number: 7437476
Abstract: A router executes a flooding algorithm. The router maintains a list of neighbors within an area data structure. When a new neighbor arises on an interface belonging to an area served by the router, the router updates the neighbor data structure describing that adjacency by linking it to a corresponding entry in the list of neighbors. Utilizing information contained in the list of neighbors, as well as information describing the types of interfaces used by the neighbors in the list, the router marks each interface data structure within the area as either flooding-active or flooding-passive. Marking of the interface is performed in connection with an interface election process that selects a flooding-active interface on the basis of, e.g., interface cost, giving preference to faster interfaces. Thereafter, link state protocol data units (PDUs) are sent to the neighbors over those interfaces marked as flooding-active.

  • Patent number: 7431160
Abstract: Apparatus for releasing tablets from a blister pack has a tray, a lid pivotally mounted on the tray and a peg slidably mounted on the lid. A base is formed integrally with side walls of the tray, a raised floor for receiving the blister pack extends across the tray and is spaced from the base to define a cavity. A partition wall extends between the side walls at one end of the floor and includes a raised portion which defines a gap between the wall and floor which enables the cavity to communicate with an end receptacle defined by the floor and a part circular end wall. The peg is movable into registry with any selected blister and the floor is provided with apertures to allow released tablets to pass through the floor into the cavity and from the cavity into the end receptacle.

  • Publication number: 20080225697
Abstract: An apparatus and method is described for computing repair path information around a failure component in a data communications network having a components nodes and links therebetween. Where, according to a routing protocol, a node sends to a neighbor node a metric indicative of reachability of a destination node, the protocol requiring differentiated action by the node if the route to the destination node includes the neighbor node, the apparatus is arranged to compute a repair path to the destination node via candidate nodes comprising only neighbor nodes to the apparatus not requiring differentiated action relative to the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20080186163
Abstract: A system for tracking the locations of a freight container using a self contained and portable container tracking device is described. The container tracking device includes a GPS receiver, an attachment mechanism to easily secure the tracking device to the interior of a container door, an intrusion detection system and an alarm. The user can access the position and status information through a web site Internet access to a centralized database, SMS interrogation or SMS message updates. The user can load map information, trip alarm conditions, update method, as well as authentication information on a flash drive and insert it in the tracking device. In the event an alarm condition is broken, an alarm is triggered and an alarm message is sent to the user. The tracking device is located inside the container whereas its antennas are located on the outside. This prevents damage, tampering and theft of the tracking device.

  • Patent number: 7366099
Abstract: A method is disclosed for synchronizing a data communications network. The data communications network comprises a plurality of existing nodes forming one or more synchronization domains and a node entering the network. Each existing node in a synchronization domain stores a common representation of the synchronization domain and is configured to flood the synchronization domain with domain representation information. In a synchronization domain identification step formed at the entering node, the entering node exchanges entering node domain representation information with a first neighboring existing node. The entering node identifies as a first synchronization domain common with the first neighboring existing node all neighboring existing nodes from which the entering node domain representation information is flooded back the entering node.

  • Publication number: 20080074997
Abstract: An apparatus is described for forwarding data in a data communications network having as components nodes and links therebetween in which nodes obtain a reachability metric between a neighbor node and one or more other nodes in the network and in which a repair path is created between an instigating repair node and a receiving repair node around a failure component therebetween. A propagatable repair address for the receiving repair node is reachable by the repair path notvia the failure component. The apparatus is arranged to treat propagatability of the repair address differently via the failure component than via other components.

  • Publication number: 20080049622
Abstract: A technique protects against failure of a network element using Multi-Topology Repair Routing (MTRR) in a computer network. According to the novel technique, a protecting node (e.g., a router) maintains Multi-Topology Routing (MTR) databases for a first topology and at least a second topology. The protecting node determines whether any acceptable repair paths are available in the first topology for a protected network element (e.g., node, link, etc.) of the first topology. If not, the protecting node may establish a repair path (e.g., for Fast ReRoute, FRR) in the second topology for the protected network element.

  • Publication number: 20080008143
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use in securely provisioning a mobile communication device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) having a plurality of wireless access points (APs) are described. In one illustrative method, a provisioning procedure is performed between the mobile communication device and the WLAN via the provisioning wireless AP while the mobile communication device is positioned within a provisioning radio frequency (RF) coverage region of the provisioning wireless AP. However, the provisioning RF coverage region is otherwise confined so that a plurality of other mobile communication devices of the WLAN are restricted from access therefrom during the provisioning procedure. The provisioning RF coverage region may be confined by providing the provisioning wireless AP within a secured room, by providing an electromagnetic shield around the provisioning wireless AP, or both, as examples.

  • Patent number: 7174387
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for optimizing the reintroduction of a network node into a network. Information about neighboring nodes is stored in persistent memory. The network node can then be reinitialized and reintroduced into the network. Upon reintroduction, the network node can transmit heartbeat messages such as Hello messages to its neighboring nodes using information stored in persistent memory. A link state packet request message such as a Complete Sequence Numbers Packet referencing dummy link state information is transmitted to a neighboring node. A partial packet request message such as a Partial Sequence Numbers Packet referencing the dummy link state packet from the neighboring node can acknowledge that the Complete Sequence Numbers Packet has been received.
