  • Patent number: 7650140
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method of modifying policy settings in a network having a plurality of subscriber devices. An embodiment includes a plurality of base stations, each capable of wirelessly transmitting across a geographic region and a server. A cell-phone, capable of roaming between regions, is operable to establish a wireless link with the base stations and through the base stations, with the server. The network contains a communication policy determining from which other communication devices a subscriber device can receive voice calls. The communication policy is updated, by the server, based on requests from the subscriber devices. Once a request is received from a subscriber device, the determination whether to update the communication policy can be based on a record of rejections respective to the caller requested to be blocked.

  • Publication number: 20090322755
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can support a declarative model-based approach to designing, constructing, and rendering visualizations. By complying with a declarative descriptor, components can be readily customized by way of modifications to the model—declaratively specifying suitable features, behaviors, appearances and so forth. The descriptors that conform to the model can also facilitate connecting to various data sources and performing data transformation operations. Moreover, the descriptors that conform to the model can declaratively specify relationships based upon a scene layout. Accordingly, the architecture can further describe the scene layout and provide features based upon the layout.

  • Publication number: 20090319562
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can construct a map for summarizing analyses with respect to data included in a database. In addition, the architecture can display the map in a special canvas area. Generally, the map is a hub-and-spoke-style map in which a hub is associated with an entity (e.g., a related set of records) included in a database. Likewise, the spokes are typically representative of operations (e.g., filter, join, transform) that act upon the hub/entity from which it extends. The map can aid with open-ended analysis on complex databases by recording and ordering competing hypotheses and can also further collaborative efforts with respect to analysis.

  • Patent number: 7630298
Abstract: A method of forwarding data in a data communications network having a plurality of nodes comprises the steps, performed at a repairing node, of computing the repair path around a network component to a target node and forwarding data along the repair path. The computing step comprises the step of computing an intermediate node reachable by the repairing node and from which the target node can be reached. The forwarding step includes the step of constructing a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) packet for forwarding to the intermediate node.

  • Patent number: 7583589
Abstract: An apparatus and method is described for computing repair path information around a failure component in a data communications network having a components nodes and links therebetween. Where, according to a routing protocol, a node sends to a neighbor node a metric indicative of reachability of a destination node, the protocol requiring differentiated action by the node if the route to the destination node includes the neighbor node, the apparatus is arranged to compute a repair path to the destination node via candidate nodes comprising only neighbor nodes to the apparatus not requiring differentiated action relative to the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7580360
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for generating routing information in a data communications network. A first network element (such as a router) receives information relating to a second network element, such as another node or a network link. In response, the first network element determines whether the information relating to the second network element indicates a change in the network. When information relating to a second network element indicates a change in the network, the first network element determines a new shortest path through the network from the first network element for each network element in the network. After a delay, the first network element updates routing information for the first network element based on the new shortest path for the first network element. Preferably the delay is proportional to the distance of the first network element from the second network element.

  • Publication number: 20090207728
Abstract: A data processing apparatus is configured for initiating a not-via approach for creating repair path information for a first link between the first network node and a second network node; creating a list of other network nodes that the not-via repair path traverses; creating and storing entries in the FIB identifying repair addresses for the network nodes and that cause (a) packets directed to all addresses normally reachable through the first link to be encapsulated to the second node not via the first node, (b) packets directed to a not-via address that is normally reachable through the first link to be encapsulated to the second node not via the first node, and (c) dropping packets directed to a not-via address that is normally reachable through the first link when the not-via address is in the list; repeating the preceding steps for all other links of the first network node.

  • Patent number: 7566579
Abstract: A method of growing semiconductor materials in the Indium, Aluminium, Gallium Nitride (InAlGaN) material system and to devices made therefrom, in particular optical devices in the ultraviolet to green region of the visible spectrum. Certain optical devices, for example Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) require great precision in the thickness of certain semiconductor layers. One aspect of the present invention provides a gallium-rich group III nitride layer (200, 201) and an adjacent layer of AlxInyGa1-x-yN layer (202). The AlxInyGa1-x-yN layer (202) acts as a fabrication facilitation layer and is selected to provide a good lattice match and high refractive index contrast with the gallium-rich group III nitride layer (200, 201). The high refractive index contrast permits in-situ optical monitoring. The extra layer (202) can be used as an etch marker or etch stop layer in subsequent processing and may be used in a lift-off process.

  • Publication number: 20090143209
Abstract: A compliant roller assembly comprising an elastomeric tube for rolling along a surface, which tube is inherently compliant to irregularities in the surface. Within the tube but smaller than the inner diameter thereof is a core apparatus comprising a non-rotating mounting element supportive of a plurality of idle rollers, extending from the mounting element in the direction of tube travel, the idle rollers making contact with the inner wall of the tube, preferably at a line orthogonal to the contact line of the tube with the surface being rolled. In a preferred embodiment, the core apparatus exerts no force vector toward the surface being rolled, the weight of the elastomeric tube itself exerting sufficient force.

  • Patent number: 7542845
Abstract: The information navigation interface facilitates receiving an indication of a discrete physical contact event with a user input device. The contact event is associated with a user request for navigating an assembly of displayable information. A navigation action based on the received indication is then determined. The navigation action may include either (a) both scrolling and expansion of currently displayed information wherein the scrolling and expansion occur simultaneously or nearly simultaneously, or (b) both scrolling and contraction of currently displayed information wherein the scrolling and contraction occur simultaneously or nearly simultaneously. Once determined, the navigation action is applied, resulting in a display of a second portion of the assembly of information.

  • Patent number: 7534544
Abstract: In a method of using a donor element in a radiation-induced thermal transfer process, an assemblage is provided that includes a donor element and a receiver element, wherein the donor element has a support layer and a transfer layer having one side adjacent the support layer and the other side adjacent the receiver element. After image-wise exposing the assemblage to radiation whereby a portion of the transfer layer is transferred to the receiver element, relative movement between the support layer and the receiver element is provided before separating the donor element from the receiver element. Advantages include improved edge straightness, image width predictability, improved thermal mass transfer, and improved color filters.

  • Publication number: 20090098877
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating routing of data in a packet radio communication system. A clone list is downloaded to the mobile node and stored at a clone list depository thereat. The clone list includes a plurality of entries, each of which provides routing information needed to route data when the mobile node is positioned within coverage areas encompassed by differing networks. A determination is made whether the clone list includes appropriate routing information to route a data packet sent by the mobile node positioned in a particular area encompassed by a particular network portion. If the clone list includes an entry containing such information, the need separately to request such information is obviated.
