  • Publication number: 20180083872
Abstract: Methods and apparatus that allow clients to connect resource instances to virtual networks in provider network environments via private IP. Via private IP linking methods and apparatus, a client of a provider network can establish private IP communications between the client's resource instances on the provider network and the client's resource instances provisioned in the client's virtual network via links from the private IP address space of the virtual network to the private IP address space of the provider network. The provider network client resource instances remain part of the client's provider network implementation and may thus also communicate with other resource instances on the provider network and/or with entities on external networks via public IP while communicating with the virtual network resource instances via private IP.

  • Publication number: 20170262300
Abstract: Approaches are described for collecting and/or utilizing network traffic information, such as network flow data, within a virtualized computing environment. The network traffic information can be collected on one or more host computing devices that host virtual machines. The collected network traffic information can include virtualized computing environment specific information, such as a user account identifier (ID), virtual machine identifier (ID), session termination information and the like. • Publication number: 20170226663
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of making fibers comprises: flowing a dispersion medium through a reaction tube, wherein the dispersion medium comprises an anti-solvent; adjusting a temperature of a polymer solution to form a stable polymer solution, wherein the polymer solution comprises a polymer and a solvent; introducing the stable polymer solution into the dispersion medium to form a polymer dispersion comprising the dispersion medium and a plurality of polymer components of the polymer solution; and shearing the dispersed-phase components by flowing the dispersion system through the reaction tube, wherein a plurality of fibers having an average diameter of less than or equal to 10 ?m are formed.

  • Publication number: 20160285782
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for interfaces to manage virtual network interface objects. A system may include resource instances and a network interface virtualization coordinator. Responsive to a record creation request, the coordinator creates an interface records that may include an IP address, subnet information and security properties. The coordinator may, in response to a request to attach the record to a resource instance, enable traffic directed to the IP address to flow to the resource instance. In response to a subsequent detach request, the traffic to the IP address may be disabled at the resource instance. The same interface record may be attached to another resource instance in response to another attach request, enabling traffic directed to the IP address to flow to the second resource instance.

  • Publication number: 20160219931
Abstract: This document presents a system and method for tracking the habits of smokers, make them aware of their habits and help them quit smoking. The system consists of an interconnected smart case, system server, and software App that is downloaded and operational on a mobile device associated with the user. The system tracks smoking activity, habits, and access to smoking materials such as cigarettes. The system also analyzes all collected information about each user to help predict when a user will next want to smoke and deter the user prior to smoking with inspirational messages, games or other activities presented on the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20160080217
Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for auto-starting and auto-stopping databases in a cloud server environment. In some embodiments, a method can include accessing, by an initial server in a network-based system, a request to connect to a target database located in a target server of the network-based system. The method can also include determining, by an administrative database (admin database) residing in the initial server, a location of the target database residing in the target server, switching an execution context from no database in the target server to a copy of the admin database in the target server, performing an auto-start procedure to auto-start the target database in the target server, switching the execution context from the admin database in the target server to the target database in the target server, and transmitting a completion acknowledgement indicating the target server is connected to the target DB.

  • Patent number: 9231963
Abstract: The behavior of a group of resources, such as a fleet of servers, can be monitored to attempt to determine a baseline of acceptable behaviors. When a behavior is observed, the baseline can be consulted to determine whether the behavior is indicated to be acceptable. If not, the rate or extent at which the newly observed behavior is observed on groupings of similar resources can be monitored. This information can be used to determine whether the behavior is acceptable in which case information for the observed behavior can be used to automatically update the baseline such that the baseline is representative of current acceptable behavior within the group of resources.

  • Patent number: 9067899
Abstract: Sodium sulfide hydrate is at least partially dehydrated by heating with N-methyl 2-pyrrolidone. 2-Chlorobenzamide is added to the mixture which is heated further. The mixture is cooled and treated with aqueous hydrogen peroxide to give the sodium salt of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one in good yield. Acidification if desired gives rise to the free 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one.

  • Publication number: 20120056352
Abstract: A method is disclosed for winding a composite strip onto a spool having a hub in which the strip includes a plurality of laterally spaced apart lengthwise extending rib portions upstanding from the base portion. The method comprises the steps of feeding the strip towards the hub of the spool; driving the fed strip through a roller set so as to plastically deform the strip to give it a curved base portion; and winding the deformed strip onto the hub to form spooled strip, the winding creating tension in the strip. The plastic deformation of the strip through the roller set substantially reduces the tension in the strip that would otherwise occur.
