Publication number: 20070192445Abstract: A software based system for facilitating streaming of media files to a device over a wide area network (WAN) includes an agent process, an authentication process, a client services process and a client process. The agent process catalogs local media files and advises the authentication process of its availability on the WAN and the address at which it may be contacted. The client process contacts the client services process to obtain, after authenticating with it, the WAN address of the agent process and contacts the agent process to receive information or meta-data describing the media files available for streaming. The client process obtains information for forming a URI or playlist, that it then passes to a media player to request the stream over the WAN. Alternately, the client process may direct the agent process to pass the URL to another client process on, for example, the same local area network.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 17, 2007Publication date: August 16, 2007Inventors: Robert Lord, Ian Rogers

Patent number: 7174922Abstract: A composite strip 10 windable to form a helical pipe is disclosed. The composite strip 10 comprises: an elongate plastic strip 11 having a base portion 12 and at least one lengthwise extending rib portion 20 upstanding from the base portion 12; and an elongate reinforcing strip 30 extending lengthwise and supported laterally by the rib portion 20, the reinforcing strip 30 having a height to thickness ratio of at least three to one and orientated substantially perpendicular to the base portion 12. When wound into a helical pipe, the reinforcing strip 30 reinforces the pipe against radial crushing loads. A bead 40 seals the reinforcing strip 30 from the environment. Desirably the composite strip 10 further comprises: a planar lamina 50 extending lengthwise and bonded to the base portion 12, the lamina 50 having a higher Young's modulus and strength than those of the plastic strip 11. The lamina 50 greatly improves the pressure rating of a pipe wound from the strip 10.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2006Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Rib Loc Australia Pty Ltd.Inventors: Ian Roger Bateman, Gulcay Uysal

Patent number: 4748599Abstract: A device for controlling a seismic cable that is towed behind a vessel (1), so that the cable follows a path that is displaced laterally in relation to the path of the vessel, comprises a frame structure (6, 7) extending transversely to the towing direction and outwardly from the area of gun suspension from the cable having longitudinal frame members provided with intermediate transverse members extending obliquely or in a curved manner whereby the front ends of the transverse members, as seen in the towing direction, are disposed further outwards laterally than the rear ends of the transverse members. When towed, the frame will this be forced outwardly by the water flowing through the frame structure and the desired lateral displacement will be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1986Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Assignee: Geco A.S., Kjorbokollen N-1301Inventors: Einar Gjestrum, Ian Rogers
