  • Patent number: 7552213
Abstract: A system for transparent switching of management sessions utilizing in-band and out-of-band technologies is provided. The system provides continuous access to the managed system(s) by combining in-band tools, which generally require lower network bandwidth and provide better response time with less latency when the system under management is in-service, with out-of-band tools that provide continued access to the system under management when the network interface or operating system become unstable or the system in placed by an operator or falls unexpectedly to an out-of-service condition.

  • Publication number: 20090138445
Abstract: A computer-based method for use in geotargeting online ads to users of search engines by allowing comparison of user's search terms with a set of geo-keywords. The method includes providing a geographic keyword generator on a server that is linked to the Internet. The method includes providing a spatial database storing classes of geographic keywords. The method continues with receiving a keyword request including a business address from a client node. The keyword generator determines a service area based on this location, and a set of geographic keywords is retrieved from the spatial database that are associated (e.g., within) the determined service area. This set of keywords is transmitted or reported to the client node (e.g., displayed in a web browser or user interface) for use in geotargeting of their online advertisements. The keyword request includes a business type, and the service area is sized based on the business type.

Each stabilizer includes a body channel affixable to one of the ladder stiles. A stabilizer base has a first end pivotally affixed to a bottom end of the body channel such that the stabilizer base pivots between a stowed position in vertical parallel registration with the body channel to a deployed position extending outwardly from said body channel. An adjustable center brace for locking the stabilizer base in its deployed position extends between an upper end of the body channel and a second end of the stabilizer base opposite from the first end.

  • Publication number: 20080184598
Abstract: A shoe (10) which has a sole (12) with a toe portion (14), a heel portion (16) and an arch portion (18) located between them. A two part heel (20) which has a low heel block (22) attached to the heel portion of the sole and includes a slot (42) formed therein. A high heel extension piece (24) is attached to the low heel block through a support beam (38) having a substantially rectangular cross-section. The support beam (38) is capable of limited axial and pivotal movement within slot. The dimensions of the support beam (38) and the slot (42) prevent rotational movement of the high heel extension piece (24) about its central axis. The high heel extension piece (24) can be pivoted relative to the sole (12) between a first position wherein it underlies and is in alignment with the low heel block (22) and a second position wherein it lies substantially beneath the arch portion (18) of said sole.

  • Publication number: 20070253714
Abstract: A method of transmission of radio signals over all types of graded-index multimode fibre is provided. The method comprises launching optical radiation into the core of the multimode fibre away from the centre of the core so as to strongly excite a subset of the available modes of the multimode fibre. The subset of modes excited are within a small number of mode groups and thus have similar propagation constants leading to a reduction in modal dispersion and modal interference and smoothing of the frequency response passband region beyond the fibres specified 3 dB base band bandwidth assisting RF transmission and recovery from this region.

  • Publication number: 20070205608
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a latching system that includes a latch assembly, a cup, and a keeper plate. The latch assembly includes a base, a lever, and a catch. The lever is pivotally connected to the base and the catch is pivotally connected to the lever. The base is pivotally attached to the cup such that it rotates about an axis of rotation that is perpendicular in direction in relation to the direction of the axis of rotation of the lever relative to the base. The keeper plate includes a keeper projection. The lever can be lifted and the latch assembly rotated about the axis of rotation of the base to clear the keeper from the catch and thereby allow the opening of a first closure member relative to a second closure member.

  • Publication number: 20070166042
Abstract: A method is provided for the transmission of digital and radio frequency signals, for example for multiservice applications, over all types of multimode optical fibre link using laser diodes. The method comprises launching optical radiation into the core of the multimode optical fibre, in a manner that restricts the number of excited modes within it. The subset of modes that are excited suppress additional noise due to the presence of a multiplicity of signals, and ensure high quality transmission.

  • Publication number: 20060203337
Abstract: A method of fabricating maps and other objects presenting multiple sets of spatially related information. Spatial alignment data, such as geographical boundaries is selected. First and second images are created by aligning or mapping first and second sets of information to the spatial alignment data. A lens sheet or lenticular material is fabricated, and based on the lens sheet configuration, the first and second images are combined to create an interlaced image including alternating strips from the first and second images. The interlaced image is printed on a substrate or the reverse side of the lens sheet, and the substrate is bonded to the lens sheet such that the interlaced image is sandwiched between the lens sheet and substrate. The first image is visible when the map or object is in a first position and the second image when the map or object is rotated to a second position.

  • Patent number: 6915032
Abstract: An optical crosspoint switch structure is disclosed. The switch permits light signal to be diverted from any arbitrary number of input ports to any or several of an arbitrary number of output ports. The switch consists of two groups or intercepting optical waveguides formed on a planar substrate, which are the input and output waveguides respectvely. At each intersection another waveguide is formed above the input and output waveguides. Optical coupling between this upper waveguide and the input/output waveguides is controlled by an electrical or optical signal. The upper waveguide has a corner mirror at the intersection. When the control signal allows, light couples from the input waveguide to the upper waveguide. After being reflected by the corner mirror, the light couples from the upper waveguide into the output waveguide. The upper waveguide incorporates the active switching element. Allowing high modulation depth and low crosstalk level.
