  • Patent number: 8149918
Abstract: Provided are a coded block pattern (CBP) estimating method which is performed using an average value and a dispersion value between blocks of CBPs in a moving picture encoder for IP-TVs (Internet Protocol-Televisions), and a block mode decision method, which can determine all block modes with only the first 16×16 block. Accordingly, since an additional operation for mode determination is not necessary, an amount of calculation and thus a calculation time can be remarkably reduced.

  • Publication number: 20110311372
Abstract: A membrane-based electroosmotic pump, having catalyst regions on electrodes, can pump a fluid without applying an external voltage. Chemical reactions of fluid components on the catalyst regions on the electrodes can induce an electric field that generates an electroosmotic flow through channels of the membrane. In one embodiment, a pump comprising platinum and gold electrodes can generate the flow of the fluid containing hydrogen peroxide through channels of the membrane. In another embodiment, a pump comprising gold electrodes, on which glucose oxidase and laccase are deposited, can generate the flow of the fluid containing glucose.

  • Publication number: 20100194414
Abstract: An electro-optical detecting device is disclosed. The electro-optical detecting device includes: an upper substrate and a lower substrate; a nematic liquid crystal layer interposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate; a transparent electrode interposed between the nematic liquid crystal layer and the upper substrate, the transparent electrode connected to a device under test (DUT) via a power supply; a polarizing plate located over the nematic liquid crystal layer; and a reflecting plate located under the nematic liquid crystal layer. A method using the electro-optical detecting device includes applying a voltage between the transparent electrode and the BUT to generate an electric field across the liquid crystal layer; illuminating the detector and capturing an image of the detector using the light reflected from the detector: and determining the DUT has some defects from the image of the detector by an abnormal electric field generated between the transparent electrode and the DUT.

  • Patent number: 7386050
Abstract: The present invention relates to a half-pel motion estimation method. The calculation object half-pel, which is in the block of the previous or next reference frame, is not estimated additionally for each block of the current frame divided into blocks of a predetermined size. The present invention suggests an algorithm that can perform half-pel search only with a SAD value used in integer-pel search and a random variable for correcting errors. Since the present invention does not have to generate half-pel for motion estimation, the calculation amount is amazingly reduced and the calculation time is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070110287
Abstract: Disclosed is a remote input method using a fingerprint recognition sensor. A main device activates a fingerprint input mode according to a user's request, and displays a key input unit, menu images and an indicator corresponding to the fingerprint input mode. A remote input device having the fingerprint recognition sensor generates fingerprint data corresponding to the finger touching method in real time, and sends the generated fingerprint data to the main device through a short range wireless communication module. When receiving the fingerprint data, the main device analyzes the type of fingerprint included in the fingerprint data based on the previously stored fingerprint information. The main device also analyzes the user input pattern according to the type of fingerprint and the fingerprint data reception type. Consequently, the main device implements a preset function corresponding to the analyzed user input pattern.
