  • Patent number: 5184221
Abstract: An apparatus for removing a ghost component which disturbs a picture signal by means of a ghost canceling reference signal included therein. The reference signal is extracted from the picture signal and judged as to whether it has a specific level in a reference time interval. The extracted reference siganl is also judged as to whether a color burst signal is canceled. If both judgements are positive, a judgement signal is generated which allows the extracted signal to be examined how it is disturbed by the ghost component. In response to the examination, the ghost component is removed from the picture signal.

  • Patent number: 5182639
Abstract: Continuous analytic transform functions implemented optically in U.S. Pat. No. 4,623,245 are instead implemented electronically and in real-time. An improved scheme is disclosed where the range of amplitudes of the monochromatic signal input is divided into n sections and constant, linear or sinusoidal transform functions are utilized in each section for transforming the monochromatic video input to three pseudocolor video signals. Even complex transform functions can be implemented by simple transform functions in each of the sections to reduce the overall complexity of the implementing circuit. The television camera, a pseudocolor encoder and a liquid crystal television monitor are placed within the same housing to form a portable hand-held unit. The weight and size of the unit can be reduced as a result of the simple electronic implementation of the encoder.

  • Patent number: 5180477
Abstract: In a thin film deposition apparatus, a vapor generation source including a crucible containing a desposition material is disposed inside an ionization means, the crucible being disposed below a cathode filament. Since the upper section of the crucible is heated by the heat of the filament, the creeping up of a molten metal deposition material having a good wettability can be suppressed. Also, the temperature of a surrounding anode is maintained higher than the melting point of the deposition material because the crucible disposed in the ionization means is heated. Therefore, the deposition of the material onto the anode can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5178027
Abstract: A bearing structure for an output shaft of an automatic transaxle employs a ball bearing, radial needle bearing and a thrust needle bearing in combination. The ball bearing and the radial needle bearing radially support the output shaft. On the other hand, the thrusting load to be exerted on the output shaft when it is driven by an output torque of the engine is received by the thrust needle bearing, and relatively small thrusting torque in reverse direction is received by the ball bearing. The ball bearing is provided on a side cover which is fixed to a transaxle casing. The radial thrust bearing is radially supported by the inner periphery of an output retainer. The thrust needle bearing is oriented at the opposite side to the ball bearing with respect to the output gear. A generally cylindrical retainer body having an axial end mating with a wall section of a transmission casing has a cylindrical projection extending from the axial end adjacent an inner circumferential edge.

  • Patent number: 5179649
Abstract: When image information of documents is stored in the image storage of an image filing device, the title information is entered for each document for easy retrieval of the image information after filing. For entry of the title information for each document into the image filing device, it is necessary to fill in title information in the title entry format, supply the title information entry format through the image input unit of the image filing device and to recognize the characters of the title information. This title information entry format is automatically designed and entered into the image storage by the operator who supplies the title information and file name by operating the keyboard of the image filing device. When the operator designates one of the plural title information entry formats entered for each file, the title information entry format thus designated is printed out by the image output unit of the image filing device.

  • Patent number: 5177857
Abstract: A technique of holding an object, wherein an object (10) to be held is placed on a holding surface (3) having a plurality of suction holes (4), each of which has a valve (6) therein which is operated in accordance with the difference between the pressure in the upper or outer space and the pressure in the lower or inner space demarcated by the valve (6). The valve (6) is opened by utilizing the phenomena that such pressure difference in those suction holes (4) closed by the object (10) becomes smaller, whereas the valves (6) are closed by utilizing the phenomena that such pressure difference in those suction holes (4) which are not closed by the object (10) and remain open becomes greater, to thereby prevent reduction of the suction force to be exerted on the object (10).
