Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for computing various determinations at one or more mobile devices and/or central machines. In part, such determinations are computed based on analysis of one or more inputs originating at one or more sensors of one or more devices. Such determinations include determining an in-vehicle role, an in-vehicle location, a handheld state, and a vehicle class. Various transformations, modifications, and outputs can result from such determinations. Also disclosed are systems and methods for restricting operation of a mobile device, including restrictions that impede operation by a driver moreso than operation by a passenger. Also disclosed are systems and methods for orienting a coordinate system of a mobile device.

Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable code for simultaneously monitoring the content of at least two streaming audio content channels are disclosed. In some embodiments, the monitored content is analyzed, and one or more features of the monitored content channels are computed, including but not limited to music classification features, content genre features, and spoken content features. These computed features may be used, for example, to compute a rating or score for each monitored audio channel, for example, a rating computed relative to user listening preferences, expressed, for example, in preference rules. In some embodiments, the presently disclosed device includes a channel selector for automatically tuning, for example, to a channel assigned a higher rating at a given time. Alternatively or additionally, content rating scores may be displayed to a user who manually selects and tunes to an audio content channel.

Abstract: A method may be performed by an electronic device coupled to a volatile system memory. The method includes entering a hibernation mode of the electronic device, where in the hibernation mode, the volatile system memory is powered off. The method further includes detecting a triggering event and, in response to detecting the triggering event, exiting the hibernation mode. While exiting the hibernation mode, the volatile system memory is powered and a pre-hibernation state of the volatile system memory is restored.

Abstract: A storage device, digital camera device, and method for displaying an alert image are disclosed. In one embodiment, a storage device is provided having an interface, a memory, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine if an alert condition has occurred and, if the alert condition has occurred, to display an alert image on a display device of the digital camera device when the digital camera device displays images stored in the memory. Some or all of these acts can be performed by the digital camera device instead of the storage device. Other embodiments are possible, and each of the embodiments can be used alone or together in combination.

Abstract: A method of servicing a command sent from a host device file system (HDFS) within a host device (HD) by a local storage device (LSD) in communication with the HD is described. The method includes receiving a first command at the LSD instructing the LSD to execute an operation on associated logical addresses. If the first command is associated with at least a first set of logical addresses, the method includes servicing the first command by the LSD at least by way of sending a second command to a device (RD) external to the LSD that instructs the RD to execute an operation on memory locations within the RD. If the first command is not associated with the first set of logical addresses, the method includes servicing the first command by the LSD only by way of operations executed by the LSD on memory locations within the LSD.

Abstract: A security adapter for an electronic device comprises a body, a device connector and host connectors that include a male connector and a female connector and an interlocking structure. The host connector is capable of engaging with a host, and the device connector is capable of engaging with an electronic device. In a first position, the interlocking structure is configured to lock an unlocked engagement of the interlocking structure to the device connector, and in a second position, the interlocking structure is configured to unlock a locked engagement of the interlocking structure to the device connector. Electronic circuitry of the security adapter is operable to identify the security adapter to the host. The electronic circuitry communicates with an access control application running on the host for controlling data access operations between the host and a device that is connectable to the security adapter.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an object that has two threads of different pitches. The two threads overlap and may have a common starting point. The object may be any type of threaded insert, including those commonly referred to as a type of nut or rivet such as a clinch-nut, a weld-nut and a rivet-nut. Also disclosed is a system having a part and the disclosed insert installed onto it. Embodiments of the invention reduce the likelihood of damage when a screw is miss-matched with a similarly sized but different threaded hole.
