Abstract: A securing apparatus includes a security adapter configured to be engaged with an electronic device. The security adapter includes an interface to couple to a host device. The securing apparatus further includes a securing structure that is lockable. When the security adapter is engaged with the electronic device, the securing structure is configurable to transition from an unlocked configuration to a locked configuration to constrain communication of one or more requests from the host device for read access or write access to the electronic device, such that the communication between the host device and the electronic device occurs via the security adapter.

Abstract: A method and system for printing graphical content onto a plurality of memory devices and for providing a visually distinguishable memory device are provided. In one embodiment, graphical content to be printed onto a plurality of memory devices is identified. A graphical image is then created from the identified graphical content, wherein the graphical image comprises a plurality of sub-areas, wherein each sub-area contains graphical content and corresponds to at least one memory device of the plurality of memory devices. The graphical image is then printed onto the plurality of memory devices, wherein the plurality of memory devices are positioned to substantially correspond with positions of the plurality of sub-areas in the graphical image. Abstract: A file synchronization system that includes a non-volatile memory for storing at least one bookmark respective to a file; a telecommunication mechanism for receiving a new bookmark value respective to this file; and a controller operative to update the respective bookmark according to the new bookmark value; and to control presentation of the file in accordance with the updated bookmark value. A plurality of bookmarks that associate to a single file are stored in the file synchronization system, each such bookmark respective to a different user.

Abstract: A host-peripheral adaptor includes a host adaptor and a portable peripheral adaptor. The host adaptor includes a substantially flat peripheral-adaptor-side interface. The peripheral-adaptor-side interface is designed in a way that it is not easy to tamper with. The portable peripheral adaptor includes a host-adaptor-side interface that is designed to operatively connect to the peripheral-adaptor-side interface of the host adaptor. The portable peripheral adaptor also includes one or more peripheral-side interfaces for accommodating one or more peripheral devices such as a storage media. The portable peripheral adaptor and the host adaptor include a set of data lines and the host adaptor also includes circuitry for recognizing the specific type of a peripheral device and, based on its specific type, for setting a suitable communication path to transfer data between a host and the peripheral device.

Abstract: A method executed by a circuit for counting electrons in storage cells in an array of at least two storage cells is provided. The method includes providing a storage array of at least two storage cells, and each of said at least two storage cells containing an unknown amount of electrons. A receiving array of at least two receiving cells is provided, where said at least two receiving cells initially contain no electrons. Then, extracting a layer of said electrons from said storage array of cells and inserting said layer into corresponding locations in said receiving array. The method then repeats said steps of extracting and inserting while at least one of said at least two storage cells is not empty. The method counts, for each said storage cell in said storage array, a productive-extraction amount.

Abstract: A system implements a camera to monitor a patient and medical devices. The camera's field of view is segmented into segments having images of the patient and the medical devices, and activities represented in the segmented images are designated for which to send a notification. Images captured by the camera are analyzed according to the field of view segmentation and the activity designation so it can be determined when the designated activities have occurred. A notification is executed when a designated activity has occurred. The system, which has a relatively low-cost and is easy to install, assists health care providers in monitoring a greater number of patients with minimal effect on the patients' privacy.

Abstract: A system and method to protect a target file from data damage wherein a wrapper application transparently intercepts a write call operative to affect the target file and stores the pertinent data in a delta file. Occasionally the target file is backed up in a temporary file and then updated. The wrapper application also intercepts a read call operative to access the target file and merges the update information with data from the target file in a temporary file. The resulting merged data is returned as read results data.

Abstract: A low power, low cost system and method for the detection of flow disturbances in a fluid dripping system is disclosed. In one embodiment, a light source and a light detector configured to monitor the amount of light passing through a droplet while the droplet is suspended and later falls from the tip of a tube. In another embodiment, dripping fluid is monitored from a system maintained part of the time in a sleep mode to conserve power, the system waking up at predetermined times to determine from detected light whether the monitored system is functioning properly.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for computing various determinations at one or more mobile devices and/or central machines. In part, such determinations are computed based on analysis of one or more inputs originating at one or more sensors of one or more devices. Such determinations include determining an in-vehicle role, an in-vehicle location, a handheld state, and a vehicle class. Various transformations, modifications, and outputs can result from such determinations. Also disclosed are systems and methods for restricting operation of a mobile device, including restrictions that impede operation by a driver moreso than operation by a passenger. Also disclosed are systems and methods for orienting a coordinate system of a mobile device.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods and computer-code are disclosed where an impending decoupling between a peripheral device and a host is detected. In some embodiments, in response to the detected impending disconnection, a user alert signal is generated. In some embodiments, an ‘onboard detector’ that is associated with housing of the peripheral device and operative to detect the impending disconnection is provided. In some embodiments, the user alert signal is generated in accordance with inter-device data flow between the host and the peripheral device. Exemplary peripheral devices include but are not limited to transient storage devices such as a USB flash drives (UFD).

Abstract: A memory card is provided comprising a plurality of electrical contacts, a controller, and a memory, where a housing encloses the controller and the memory and exposes the plurality of electrical contacts. In one embodiment, the memory card further comprises an extendible gripping portion movable between first and second positions, wherein the extendible gripping portion is more exposed from the housing in the second position than in the first position. In another embodiment, the end of the housing forms a notch shaped to mate with a mating removal tool. In yet another embodiment, the length of the memory card is less than about 32 mm and the width of the memory card is about 24 mm, and the memory card has a fingernail grip on the housing. Other embodiments are possible, and each of the embodiments can be used alone or together in combination.

Abstract: A method for graphical manipulation of digital images includes a computing device with an interface to a memory, a processor and a graphical application that is executed on the computing device. The processor is operative, under control of the graphical application, to retrieve one or more digital images from the memory and to process each of the retrieved digital images. Processing each retrieved digital image produces a respective set of modified digital images each with a central portion and a frame portion. The central portion is produced from content of the processed retrieved digital image, and the frame portion produced with a frame style and frame attributes that are related to the content of the processed retrieved digital image.

Abstract: A method and memory device for generating a time estimate are provided. In one embodiment, a memory device generates a time estimate from time stamps in file system metadata for a plurality of files stored in the memory device and uses the time estimate to perform a time-based activity in the memory device. In another embodiment, a memory device generates a time estimate from time stamps stored in a plurality of files stored in the memory device and uses the time estimate to perform a time-based activity in the memory device. In yet another embodiment, a memory device obtains a plurality of time stamps, selects one or more of the plurality of time stamps based on validity rankings, generates a time estimate from the selected time stamp(s), and uses the time estimate to perform a time-based activity in the memory device.

If the condition is violated, the installation code is erased and that part of the storage medium then is available for general use.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is method of locking and unlocking a door that is equipped with an electronic lock, to be locked and unlocked with a removable mechanical lock, enabling orthodox Jews that observe the Sabbath laws to use the door on Saturdays. Also disclosed herein is how to fortify a hotel room door by adding a removable mechanical proprietary lock over the built-in electronic lock. These modifications can be done without damaging the door.

Abstract: A method may be performed by an electronic device coupled to a volatile system memory. The method includes entering a hibernation mode of the electronic device, where in the hibernation mode, the volatile system memory is powered off. The method further includes detecting a triggering event and, in response to detecting the triggering event, exiting the hibernation mode. While exiting the hibernation mode, the volatile system memory is powered and a pre-hibernation state of the volatile system memory is restored.
