  • Publication number: 20180096581
Abstract: A long range wireless notification electronic rodent trapping system and method is provided having a plurality of rodent trapping devices configured to wirelessly communicate trap information to a gateway that can be in communication with a cloud server. The system uses frequencies of less than 1 GHz and data packets with a payload of not more than 256 bytes to enable the status of the traps to be remotely monitored over a wide geographical area with the traps being capable of reporting their status directly to a gateway located up to about 10 miles away.

  • Publication number: 20180047280
Abstract: An electric fence monitoring unit and an integrated energizer/monitoring unit with remote control and communication capability using GSM based cellular technology, and a method for the use thereof, is provided. A simple set of commands can be used and sent, such as through text messaging (SMS) or a smartphone application, to control and/or receive information from the monitoring unit including alerts sent to the user in the case of faults or changes in fence loading. The monitoring unit includes a safety mode that uses time dependent voltage detection to detect when a sudden and significant drop in fence voltage has occurred, as may result when an animal becomes trapped or entangled in the fence. When such a large and rapid voltage drop is detected and the safety mode is enabled, the unit automatically de-energizes the electric fence and an alert is sent to the user advising that the fence should be looked at without delay.

  • Patent number: 9758760
Abstract: The invention provides methods of producing vaccines directed against microorganisms, with the methods comprising culturing, harvesting and/or suspending the microorganism in the presence of a radiation-protective composition and irradiating the bacteria or viruses with a dose of radiation sufficient to render the microorganism replication-deficient and/or non-infective. The radiation-protective compositions used in the methods of the present invention comprise at least one nucleoside, at least one antioxidant and at least one small peptide. The invention also provides methods of rendering bacteria in culture resistant to ionizing radiation (IR), with these methods comprising culturing the bacteria in the presence of a radiation-protective composition.

  • Patent number: 9743657
Abstract: A remote notification electronic rodent trapping system and method is provided having a plurality of rearming electronic rodent trapping devices configured to wirelessly communicate trap information to a base station that is in communication with a cloud server. When a trap is activated by a rodent trigger it changes from a set state to a kill alert state and initiates a killing cycle. The trap waits a first time period and then sends a notification signal to the base station of trap activation which the base station forwards to the cloud server. The cloud server waits a second predetermined time period before sending a pushed notification to a remote user of the trap's kill alert state. If the trap rearms prior to expiration of the second time period, it alerts the base station which notifies the cloud server. The cloud server updates trap status to the set state and does not send a notification to the user.

  • Patent number: 9630198
Abstract: A motion activated water repellant sprinkler device for repelling animals that can be remotely controlled is provided. When the device is in on mode, the user can remotely adjust the sensitivity setting of the motion detector, set a time period for which the sprinkler will continually spray, and turn off the device so that the user can approach the device without being sprayed. The ability to set a particular time period for continuous sprinkler activity allows the motion activated water repellant sprinkler device to be used not only as an animal deterring device but also as a watering device for grass and other plants. Remote control by IR signals and RF signals is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9591602
Abstract: A communication device locates a preferable wireless service provider in a multi-service provider environment using a frequency band search schedule. Initially, the communications device registers with a less preferred service provider in a first frequency band. While remaining registered with the less preferred service provider, the device examines several frequency bands in the order specified by the frequency band search schedule. A frequency band is examined by dividing the frequency band into many sub-bands, and by locating the strongest signal above a threshold within the sub-band being examined. The examination continues until a second frequency band having a more preferred service provider is located. The communication device then registers with the more preferred service provider. The category of service provider may be identified and displayed on the communication device.

  • Publication number: 20170026338
Abstract: A privatized link between an origin server and a content delivery network is provided. A privatized link can be direct connection that does not route over the internet. Another privatized link is one that rotates IP addresses. An origin server may be assigned to use a set of multiple IP addresses for communication with the content delivery network. However, at any given time, the origin server is only using a small number of IP addresses. When one of the IP addresses being used to communicate with the content delivery network comes under attack, the origin server switches to another IP address in the set in order to continue serving content to the content delivery network via an IP address that is not under attack.

  • Publication number: 20160102353
Abstract: The present invention provides for certain polynucleotide sequences that have been correlated to AMD. These polynucleotides are useful as diagnostics, and are preferably used to fabricate an array, useful for screening patient samples. The array is used as part of a laboratory information management system, to store and process additional patient information in addition to the patient's genomic profile. As described herein, the system provides an assessment of the patient's risk for developing AMD, risk for disease progression, and the likelihood of disease prevention based on patient controllable factors.

  • Publication number: 20160086475
Abstract: A remote notification electronic rodent trapping system and method is provided having a plurality of electronic rodent trapping devices configured to wirelessly communicate trap information to each other and to a PC or wireless device. According to one embodiment, each trap is equipped with an RF transceiver and the rodent trapping devices form a mesh network with one another in which the trapping devices act as repeaters so that if one trap loses connectivity with the PC, information from that trap can be transmitted to the PC via another trap. According to an alternative embodiment, the traps individually report directly to the base station or to the base station via one or more repeaters, the repeaters enabling the range of the direct individual reporting configuration to be greatly increased.
