  • Publication number: 20210189960
Abstract: A turboprop powered aircraft having a cowling or nacelle surrounding the engine, said cowling incorporates an air inlet and internal ducting to the engine wherein the inlet incorporated anti-icing ducts, said inlet shape has a closed oval or other non-circular shape that is not coaxial to the engine propeller drive shaft. Inlet anti-icing heating duct means are provided for channeling a portion of the engine's exhaust to the interior of the inlet rim. A further improvement in inlet efficiency can be achieved by reducing the thickness of the inlet cross-section, but this results in less space available for the hot exhaust connections. To provide for the inlet reduced section thickness, the exhaust flow connections also incorporate reduced thickness sections to facilitate cooling and insulation of the adjacent cowling and inlet duct surfaces from the excessive heat associated with the hot exhaust gas connection.

  • Patent number: 10802060
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments are disclosed for validating measured meter data. In one embodiment, a graphical user interface is provided that facilitates configuration of a validation algorithm by a user. Historical usage data is accessed during a non-peak time to offload processing from a peak time. The non-peak time corresponds to a time span when the measured meter data is not being received and/or is not being validated, and the peak time corresponds to a different time span when the measured meter data is being validated. Statistical data is generated from the historical usage data during the non-peak time and stored in a memory. The measured meter data is received and the statistical data is accessed during the peak time. The measured meter data is validated by applying the validation algorithm to the statistical data and the measured meter data during the peak time.

  • Patent number: 10508974
Abstract: A “store on alert” vibration data acquisition mechanism uses scalar data produced by a vibration monitoring device as a predicate to capturing and storing analytical vibration data in the vibration monitoring device. The scalar data may consist of scalar process variables generated in the vibration monitoring device that are acquired at a fixed interval, such as PeakVue and Overall Vibration. At each interval, these scalar data values are compared to machine performance threshold levels, such as ADVISE, MAINT and FAIL, to determine whether analytical vibration data is to be stored separately inside the vibration monitoring device. Since the analytical vibration data is captured based on a predicate inside the vibration monitoring device (i.e., comparison of the scalar value to the thresholds), the analytical vibration data includes more relevant diagnostic information about a specific machine performance event.

  • Publication number: 20190138046
Abstract: This invention relates to a machine and method to create force profiles within a two dimensional hemispherical plane. It utilizes an array of electromagnets to exert a magnetic force on a shaft that can pivot in two dimensions. The shaft rotates around the pivot point with one end inside the array of electromagnets and the other end exposed as a handle or end effector. The shaft end located within the array has a permanent magnet or electromagnet to receive a magnetic force from the array. The location of the shaft magnet relative to the array permits its location and force output to be controllable within its hemispherical range of motion. The position of the magnet is determined by Hall effect sensors that report the angular components of the shaft magnet's own magnetic field. The magnetic field of the force generating component is used both for motion and for sensing.

  • Patent number: 10235040
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling the appearance of application windows on a computer display screen. A user identifies either an application window currently running on the computer or a new application to be started. The user also identifies a size, shape, and screen location by inputting a geometric shape, such as by drawing a rectangle with a pen or stylus input device, on the display screen. The appearance of the application window is set based on the geometric shape. The application window is resized and moved, for a currently running application, or created, for a new application, on the display screen.
