  • Patent number: 9854328
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for augmenting a user's multimedia consumption experience. The methods comprise while the user is consuming the multimedia presentation using a first device, that device provides (to one or more remote processors) information that may be used to identify a relevant location. The one or more processors use this information to identify the location and acquire a virtual environment. This virtual environment may be a virtual representation the location. The virtual environment is presented to the user on a second (companion) device. Using the second device, the user may explore the virtual environment and interact with virtual objects therein.

  • Publication number: 20170267131
Abstract: A vehicle including a storage compartment associated with the load floor, a stowable seat having a seat structure and configured to move between a deployed position and a stowed position where the stowable seat is stowed within the storage compartment, and a load floor access panel assembly. The load floor access panel assembly is movable between an open position providing access to the storage compartment, and a closed position where the load floor access panel assembly is in a substantially flat load floor configuration covering the storage compartment. The rearward panel includes a channel formed therein configured to receive the seat structure, and a seat structure access panel pivotally coupled to the rearward panel and configured to move between a load floor position where the seat structure access panel covers the channel, and an access position where the seat structure access panel is pivoted away from the channel.

  • Patent number: 9635438
Abstract: While a user views a primary content item (for example, a movie on a television screen), secondary content items are selected and presented to the user, either on the same screen or on a screen of the user's companion device. To choose selections that are relevant to the user's current interests, the selection process considers information beyond the realm of primary and secondary content. Over time, the selection process learns to make more relevant selections by monitoring selection choices made by other systems.

  • Publication number: 20160077403
Abstract: An optical comb generator, having a light input port configured to receive a continuous wave light from a laser source and a plurality of phase modulators coupled to the light input port. At least one intensity modulator is coupled to the plurality of the phase modulators, along with a plurality of phase shifters. The phase shifters are coupled to a corresponding phase modulator. A radio frequency (RF) clock is coupled to the phase modulators and the intensity modulator, and configured to provide synchronous clock input to the phase modulators and the intensity modulator. The comb generator may also incorporate an RF switch disposed between the RF clock and the phase shifters associated with a phase modulator, so that the RF switch enables tuning each corresponding phase shifter to thereby provide a tunable optical comb.

  • Patent number: 8763042
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for providing information to a first client device (e.g., a tablet computer) for presentation on that device. The information may be related to multimedia content (e.g., a television program) that may be presented using a second client device (e.g., a television). Firstly, an activity level for a portion of the multimedia content is determined. Using the activity level, an amount of the information is assigned to that portion of the multimedia content. The amount of the information assigned is dependent on that determined activity level. The assigned information is then provided for use by (e.g., for display on) the first client device.

  • Publication number: 20130298508
Abstract: A handheld jar opener device has a handle and a strap extending from near a corner of the front and one (left) side of the handle. The strap is formed into a loop in front of the handle, and extends through a tunnel disposed diagonally through the handle from near a corner of the front and an opposite (right) side of the handle to the one (left) side of the handle, with a residual portion of the strap extending beyond the handle. The device may engage the lid of a jar, or the body of the jar. Two devices may be used as a system to engage both the lid and body of the jar. Force applied to the handle(s) is translated as torque to the lid and/or body of the jar.
