  • Publication number: 20140009476
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for augmenting a user's multimedia consumption experience. The methods comprise whilst the user is consuming the multimedia presentation using a first device, that device provides (to one or more remote processors) information that may be used to identify a relevant location. The one or more processors use this information to identify the location and acquire a virtual environment. This virtual environment may be a virtual representation the location. The virtual environment is presented to the user on a second (companion) device. Using the second device, the user may explore the virtual environment and interact with virtual objects therein.

  • Publication number: 20130298508
Abstract: A handheld jar opener device has a handle and a strap extending from near a corner of the front and one (left) side of the handle. The strap is formed into a loop in front of the handle, and extends through a tunnel disposed diagonally through the handle from near a corner of the front and an opposite (right) side of the handle to the one (left) side of the handle, with a residual portion of the strap extending beyond the handle. The device may engage the lid of a jar, or the body of the jar. Two devices may be used as a system to engage both the lid and body of the jar. Force applied to the handle(s) is translated as torque to the lid and/or body of the jar.

  • Patent number: 8560553
Abstract: A multimedia device and a method embodied in the multimedia device for providing access to media content from a plurality of media content are provided. The multimedia device includes a user interface (UI) with one or more UI controls, a processor, and an output device. The UI controls receive a first set of parameter values from the user, in order to select media content. The processor creates a first list of media content based on a first probabilistic distribution over the plurality of media content. The output device provides access to the media content of the first list of media content to the user. Further, the UI may receive a second set of parameter values, and a second list of media content is then created, based on a second probabilistic distribution. The output device provides access to the media content of the second list of media content to the user.

  • Patent number: 8517750
Abstract: Design and integration of a UV LED curing system into a multi-station UV-curing process, such as for inkjet or offset printing. Docking ports may be permanently mounted into various stations within the UV-curing process. The UV LED lamps may be modular and may therefore be inserted into any one of the desired docking ports at variable distances from the substrate to be cured without significant loss of optical uniformity or radiant intensity. The docking ports are designed such that they can accommodate UV LED lamps of differing wavelengths and, therefore, power requirements. The insertion of a UV LED lamp into a docking port is designed such that it is accomplished without tools and may be considered a “plug and play” operation. Multiple docking ports may be mounted into a single station in the UV-curing process to allow for the installation of multiple lamps at each station.

  • Patent number: 8143024
Abstract: The subject of the invention is the genomic sequence and the nucleotide sequences encoding polypeptides of Chlamydia trachomatis, such as cellular envelope polypeptides, which are secreted or specific, or which are involved in metabolism, in the replication process or in virulence, polypeptides encoded by such sequences, as well as vectors including the said sequences and cells or animals transformed with these vectors. The invention also relates to transcriptional gene products of the Chlamydia trachomatis genome, such as, for example, antisense and ribozyme molecules, which can be used to control growth of the microorganism. The invention also relates to methods of detecting these nucleic acids or polypeptides and kits for diagnosing Chlamydia trachomatis infection. The invention also relates to a method of selecting compounds capable of modulating bacterial infection and a method for the biosynthesis or biodegradation of molecules of interest using the said nucleotide sequences or the said polypeptides.
