  • Patent number: 11150836
Abstract: A semiconductor data storage memory can receive data access commands into a queue in a first time sequence that correspond with the transfer of data between a host and portions of the memory. The memory may be divided into separate portions that each have a different owner and the access commands may be issued to each of the respective separate portions. The access commands can subsequently be executed in a different, second time sequence responsive to estimated completion times for each of the access commands based on measured completion times for previously serviced, similar commands to maintain a nominally consistent quality of service level for each of the respective owners.

  • Patent number: 11138069
Abstract: Apparatus and method for storing data in a non-volatile memory (NVM), such as a flash memory in a solid-state drive (SSD). In some embodiments, a distributed storage space of the NVM is defined to extend across a plural number of regions of the NVM. A non-standard parity data set is provided having a plural number of data elements greater than or equal to the plural number of regions in the storage space. The data set is written by storing a first portion of the data elements and a first parity value to the plural number of regions and a remaining portion of the data elements and a second parity value to a subset of the plural number of regions. The regions can comprise semiconductor dies in a flash memory, and the distributed storage space can be a garbage collection unit formed using one erasure block from each flash die.

  • Patent number: 11126056
Abstract: A method for removing a material from a surface of a substrate includes impinging a laser beam on the material during a first sweep to remove the material from the surface along a first line and impinging the laser beam on the material during a second sweep to remove the material from the surface along a second line adjacent to the first line. The first line includes first artifacts that form a first portion of an array of artifacts on the surface. The second line includes second artifacts that form a second portion of the array of artifacts on the surface. A first laser pulse of the laser beam corresponding with the second sweep is synchronized with a start of the second sweep when transitioning between the first line and the second line such that the start of the second sweep coincides with the first laser pulse.

  • Patent number: 11090883
Abstract: A preform-charge fixture creates a preform charge, which is a partially consolidated assemblage of preforms that can be efficiently transferred to a mold to create a finished part in a molding process, such as compression molding. In the illustrative embodiment, the preform-charge fixture includes peripheral cleats that are movable towards a central cleat to create a small gap therebetween that receives and constrains preforms in a desired position. The fixture also includes clamps, which are operable to engage an uppermost layer of preforms in the gap and apply a slight amount of downward pressure thereto to assure that the preforms are properly seated. The fixture also accommodates an energy source that heats the preforms so that, in conjunction with downforce applied by the clamps and/or gravity, the preforms can be tacked together, forming the preform charge.

  • Publication number: 20210240494
Abstract: The embodiments described herein set forth techniques for identifying when a user activates a search application on his or her mobile computing device, and presenting, prior to receiving an input of search parameters from the user, a prediction of one or more applications that the user may be interested in accessing. According to some embodiments, the search application can be configured to interface with an “application prediction engine” each time the search application is activated and query the application prediction engine for a prediction of one or more applications that the user may be interested in accessing. In turn, the application prediction engine can analyze information associated with the applications installed on the mobile computing device to produce the prediction. Using the prediction, the search application can display the predicted one or more applications within a user interface of the search application for selection by the user.

  • Patent number: 11059239
Abstract: Rib-and-sheet structures include a rib comprising continuous, aligned fibers. The rib is fabricated via compression molding from continuous, aligned fiber, thereby providing an aligned, continuously reinforced rib. In one embodiment, rib-and-sheet structures are produced in a two-step compression-molding process, wherein a near net-shape rib is molded, in a first mold, from fiber-bundle based preforms, and then a rib-and-sheet part is molded by placing, in a second mold, the rib with either: (i) a preformed sheet, (ii) plies that form a laminate/sheet or (iii) chopped fibers that form a sheet during the molding process. In another embodiment, rib-and-sheet structures are fabricated in a one-step compression-molding process, wherein fiber-bundle-based preforms and (i) a preformed sheet, (ii) plies that form a laminate/sheet, or (iii) chopped fibers are combined in a single mold and molded in a single step.
