  • Patent number: 8203454
Abstract: A wheelchair alarm system and method for preventing falls for patients at risk by recognizing the gesture of a patient attempting to stand. The wheelchair alarm system uses an array of proximity sensors and pressure sensors to create a map of the patient's sitting position, and then uses gesture recognition algorithms to determine when a patient is attempting to stand up. The wheelchair alarm system responds with light and voice alarms that can encourage the patient to remain seated and/or to make use of the system's integrated nurse-call function. The wheelchair alarm system can be seamlessly integrated into existing hospital WiFi networks, sending messages to the nurse call system as well as providing the patient's location.

  • Publication number: 20120073967
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring biomaterial and a method for manufacturing thereof. The apparatus of the present invention comprises: a first substrate having a recess in one side thereof; a second substrate having a plurality of reaction electrodes where a biochemical reaction of a biomaterial occurs, and a plurality of delivery electrodes delivering signals from the reaction to a detector; and reaction reagents located in the recess causing the reaction with the biomaterial. The second substrate is attached to the first substrate such that a portion of the recess forms a sample-inlet, the recess cooperates with at least one edge of the second substrate to form at least one vent slit, and the reaction electrodes are directed toward the recess. Such apparatus of the present invention enables air in the capillary to be thoroughly and quickly discharged to the outside with biomaterial-introduction, thereby increasing the speed of the biomaterial-introduction.

  • Publication number: 20120067722
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring a biomaterial, comprising: a first substrate having a recess in one side thereof; a second substrate having reference and operating electrodes where a biochemical reaction of a biomaterial occurs, and first and second delivery electrodes delivering electric signals from the reaction to a detector; and reaction reagents fixed at the second substrate causing the reaction with the biomaterial, wherein the first or the second substrate has a tilted surface toward a sample-inlet in a height direction. The second substrate is attached to the first substrate such that a portion of the recess forms the sample-inlet, and the reference and operating electrodes are directed toward the recess. The tilted surface prevents the sample-inlet from being blocked by a finger of the user when introducing the biomaterial through the sample-inlet in the event the used substrate has three-dimensional structures with substantial thickness.

  • Patent number: 8134479
Abstract: A monocular motion stereo-based automatic free parking space detection system is disclosed. The system acquires image sequences with a single rearview fisheye camera, three-dimensionally reconstructs the vehicle rearview by using point correspondences, and recovers metric information from a known camera height to estimate the positions of adjacent vehicles thereby detecting the free parking spaces. By using de-rotation-based feature selection and 3D structure mosaicking the degradation of the 3D structure near the epipole is solved and it is not necessary to use the unreliable odometry due to its accuracy depending on road conditions.

  • Patent number: 8004078
Abstract: Provided is an adhesive composition for a semiconductor device. For example, the adhesive composition comprises a binder resin and a silicon carbide filler. The silicon carbide filler has relatively high thermal conductivity and a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). Accordingly, the adhesive composition containing the silicon carbide filler exhibits improved heat dissipation performance and electrical performance due to high thermal conductivity and shows inhibition of delamination or cracking of semiconductor devices due to low CTE. The silicon carbide has high thermal conductivity, but is electrically non-conductive. Therefore, an electrically conductive adhesive can be obtained by additional incorporation of a silver (Ag) filler into the binder resin.
