  • Publication number: 20210244291
Abstract: A method of determining volume flow rate of a bodily fluid in a biological conduit includes determining a cross-sectional area of a biological conduit using a velocity vector map representing moving entities or moving fluid portions in a bodily fluid flowing within the biological conduit, calculating an average speed of the moving entities or moving fluid portions in the bodily fluid flowing across the determined cross-sectional area of the biological conduit, and calculating volume flow rate of the bodily fluid in the biological conduit from the determined cross-sectional area and the calculated instantaneous or average speed. A series of velocity vector maps may be collected over time so as to generate a flow rate profile representing flow rate as a function of time.

  • Publication number: 20210205940
Abstract: Methods of inducing segmented flow in a material in which a ductile flow mode would otherwise occur during machining. A monolayer molecular film is formed on a surface of a body of a material in a state such that the material exhibits ductile flow when subjected to shear. The monolayer molecular film has molecules each having a head group adsorbed to the surface, a terminal group, and a hydrocarbon chain therebetween having a chain length of greater than 6. A surface portion of the body is removed by engaging the body with a tool in a contact region below the surface of the body and moving the tool relative to the body to remove the surface portion and the monolayer molecular film thereon. The monolayer molecular film induces segmented flow in the material during the removing of the surface portion.

  • Publication number: 20210190576
Abstract: A method and a device for determining the amount of fill volume in a container. A mass of polarizable liquid in a container is positioned within the measurement region of a shielding antenna and a measuring pulse antenna. The shielding antenna is connected to both a measuring device that measures a time-dependent voltage value of an external interference signal and to a compensation signal generator that generates a time-dependent compensation signal compensating this interference signal. The measuring pulse antenna is connected to both a measuring pulse generator that generates a polarization signal to transmit to the fluid fill in the container and to a second measuring device that measures a response signal to derive the mass of the fluid from said response signal.

  • Patent number: 10970630
Abstract: Various technologies pertaining to allocating computing resources of a neuromorphic computing system are described herein. Subgraphs of a neural algorithm graph to be executed by the neuromorphic computing system are identified. The subgraphs are each executed by a group of neuron circuits serially. Output data generated by execution of the subgraphs are provided to the same or a second group of neuron circuits at a same time or with associated timing data indicative of a time at which the output data was generated. The same or second group of neuron circuits performs one or more processing operations based upon the output data.

Abstract: Methods and systems for upgrading an intelligent server adapter (ISA) with reduced downtime that affects performance are provided. The method includes, from a main agent, initiating a backup agent that includes critical functions of the ISA and runs in a tight loop, isolated from other components. The main agent transfers critical duties to the backup agent and shuts down before performing the upgrade. After upgrading itself and other system components, the main agent retrieves the duties from the backup agent, and may terminate the backup agent.

  • Patent number: 10891540
Abstract: A method and computer system for managing a neural network. Data is sent into an input layer in a portion of layers of nodes in the neural network. The data moves on an encode path through the portion such that an output layer in the portion outputs encoded data. The encoded data is sent into the output layer on a decode path through the portion back to the input layer to obtain a reconstruction of the data by the input layer. A determination is made as to whether an undesired amount of error has occurred in the output layer based on the data sent into the input layer and the reconstruction of the data. A number of new nodes is added to the output layer when a determination is present that the undesired amount of the error occurred, enabling reducing the error using the number of the new nodes.

  • Publication number: 20210000352
Abstract: Fluorescence based tracking of a light-emitting marker in a bodily fluid stream is conducted by: providing a light-emitting marker into a fluid stream; establishing field of view monitoring by placement of a sensor, such as a high speed camera, at a region of interest; recording image data of light emitted by the marker at the region of interest; determining time characteristics of the light output of the marker traversing the field of view; and calculating flow characteristics based on the time characteristics. Furthermore generating a velocity vector map may be conducted using a cross correlation technique, leading and falling edge considerations, subtraction, and/or thresholding.
