  • Publication number: 20140207210
Abstract: Method and systems for optimizing acoustic energy transmission in implantable devices are disclosed. Transducer elements transmit acoustic locator signals towards a receiver assembly, and the receiver responds with a location signal. The location signal can reveal information related to the location of the receiver and the efficiency of the transmitted acoustic beam received by the receiver. This information enables the transmitter to target the receiver and optimize the acoustic energy transfer between the transmitter and the receiver. The energy can be used for therapeutic purposes, for example, stimulating tissue or for diagnostic purposes.

  • Patent number: 8762980
Abstract: Multiple versions of a sequential dataset are maintained without storing the full file set for each version. A full file set for the current version is stored, as well as a chain of forward and/or reverse patches between adjacent versions. New content for the dataset is received, and a new current version is built that includes this new content. Patches between the new and immediately previous versions are built and stored. When a request is received from a client for an update to the current version, multiple patches of the chain are merged, from the client version of the dataset to the current version. This merging of patches creates a single direct delta, which comprises all operations for updating the client version to the current version. The direct delta is then transmitted to the client.

  • Publication number: 20140131975
Abstract: A trailer for transporting a liquid mixture having at least about 5% peracetic acid by weight includes a stainless steel tank having an external spill containment enclosure and a predetermined maximum allowable working pressure. One or more pressure relief valves are included in a wall of the tank within the external spill containment enclosure and configured to provide pressure relief to the tank at a pressure of between about 20%-50% of the maximum working pressure of the tank, thereby preventing over-pressurization of a reactive and decomposing fluid during a fire event. Wheels and a kingpin are affixed to the tank to enable transportation over public roadways.

  • Patent number: 7401421
Abstract: A sole construction for use in the manufacture of a shoe has an outer sole made of a soft and pliable natural or synthetic elastomeric material having a substantially uniform thickness over its entire area. The outer sole has a substantially planar external surface (when relaxed) for contacting the ground, with cuts formed therein to enhance grip. A puncture-resistant inner sheet of woven synthetic fibers is bonded to the internal surface of the outer sole and an inner lining is bonded to the puncture-resistant inner sheet. A removable soft insole may be provided on the inner lining. The sole construction is lightweight and highly flexible such that a foot of a wearer may flex in the same manner as if the wearer was barefoot with the puncture-resistant inner sheet protecting the wearer's foot from accidental injury from sharp objects on which the wearer may tread.

  • Patent number: 7369385
Abstract: An overload current limiting circuit includes an output control circuit responsive to a logic input signal for generating a control signal for driving an output device to produce at an output terminal a signal representative of the logic input signal; and a sense circuit for sensing voltage at the output terminal indicative of a current overload and diverting a portion of that current to change the control signal to the output device to limit the overload current.

  • Patent number: 7359679
Abstract: A wireless access point is equipped with both an omnidirectional antenna and a directable antenna that can be selectively directed to any of a plurality of directional spaces overlapping the network space served by the omnidirectional antenna. The directable antenna is directed to an optimal directional space for a client when the access point is communicating with the client at a high data rate. The access point can intermittently exchange information with other clients using the omnidirectional antenna. The omnidirectional antenna enables broadcast signals to be transmitted to any client in the entire network space, but at a lower data rate. A preferred data rate and an optimal client directional space are re-determined periodically or as necessary based on parameters such as the data rate, signal strength, and rate of success in communicating data.

  • Patent number: 7359362
Abstract: A wireless device is coupled to a multi-sector antenna that includes a plurality of different sectors, any of which can be activated to transmit and receive in a desired direction specific to that sector. Optionally, an omnidirectional antenna is included for initially establishing a wireless connection with another wireless device, such as an access point. A parameter indicative of signal quality, such as throughput or received signal strength indication (RSSI) is determined by polling with each antenna sector to establish a prioritized candidate list. If a receive Trigger becomes active in response to a parameter falling below a threshold level, a new candidate sector is selected from the current list based upon a next-best signal quality. The directionality of the multi-sector antenna provides a substantially higher data rate compared to that of the conventional omnidirectional antenna.

  • Patent number: 7355536
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for digitally compensating signal converters and in particular a digital to analog converter which receives digital input data for a digital to analog converter and supplies anti-function digital coefficients derived from the error function of the digital to analog converter and corresponding to the digital input data and applies the anti-function digital coefficients to the digital input data to pre-condition the digital input data to compensate for the error function of the digital to analog converter. The invention also extends to analog to digital converters.
