Abstract: The invention relates to a dispensing device which can be used to dispense a metered volume of a flowable material such as a liquid, gel or paste product from a reservoir. The invention provides a pump (101) for dispensing a flowable material from a container, the pump including a pump body (102) which is deformable between a rest configuration and a squeezed configuration, the internal capacity of the pump body being substantially reduced in the squeezed configuration compared to the rest configuration. The pump includes a unidirectional valve to allow ingress of the flowable material into the pump body from the container and an outlet (104) to allow egress of flowable material from the pump body such that squeezing of the pump body dispenses the flowable material from the container. The pump assembly includes a sealing member (130) located within the pump body and mounted for translational movement.

Abstract: A multilayer card has (i) an opaque polyester film substrate (1) containing 0.2 to 30% by weight, relative to the total weight of the substrate, of at least one copolyesterether, (ii) an ink-receptive layer (2) on at least one surface of the substrate, and (iii) a cover layer (4) on the surface of the ink-receptive layer and/or surface of the substrate. The presence of the copolyesterether in the substrate reduces the tendency of the card to delaminate in use. Suitable for use, inter alia, in identification, magnetic, credit, pre-paid and smart cards.

Abstract: A method for communicating between a controller and a device with double-buffered inputs comprises the steps of providing one or more communication paths for exchanging data between the controller and the device, providing a data transfer control signal from the controller to the device for transferring input data from one or more input registers into one or more latchable data registers, and providing a data transfer delay signal from the device to the controller, wherein, in a first logic state, the data transfer delay signal prevents transfer of input data from the input registers into the latchable data registers until after a transition to a second logic state occurs on the data transfer delay signal. An apparatus for communicating between a controller and a device is also described.

Abstract: In an implementation of directed wireless communication, a multi-beam directed signal system coordinates directed wireless communication with client devices. A transmit beam-forming network routes data communication transmissions to the client devices via directed communication beams that are emanated from an antenna assembly, and a receive beam-forming network receives data communication receptions from the client devices via the directed communication beams.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus to program a flash memory cell in an analog storage array. A read circuit reads a cell voltage of a flash memory cell. A comparator compares the read cell voltage with an input voltage representing an analog signal. The comparator generates first and second comparison results. A programming circuit generates a first program pulse corresponding to a first amplitude to iteratively program the flash memory cell based on the first comparison result. The programming circuit generates a second program pulse corresponding to a second amplitude less than the first amplitude to iteratively program the flash memory cell based on the first and second comparison results.

Abstract: This invention provides column redundancy circuits in a storage array, which circuits are used in a non-volatile memory chip to increase the production yield due to manufacturing defects. The invention includes a scheme to latch and transfer the redundancy information, a redundancy logic circuit, a redundancy column driver, an array architecture with column redundancy, a scheme to program and read the column redundancy memory cells, a scheme to multiplex the fuses, and circuits to use an out-of-bound address as a column redundancy enable/disable signal.
