  • Patent number: 8406758
Abstract: There present invention relates to a method for managing the automatic provision of a subscriber network identifier from a central network server to a subscribed communication device, the method comprising receiving notification at the central server relating to a change in the current location for the subscribed device, and determining from the notification whether a new subscriber network identifier is to be provisioned from the central server. The method further comprises selecting a subscriber network identifier on the basis of the current location, if the determining step has determined that a new subscriber network identifier is to be provisioned, and outputting the selected subscriber network identifier for transmission to the subscribed device. The present invention also relates to managing the automatic connection of a subscribed communication device to a network, where a preferred network and preferred subscriber network identifier may be used.

  • Publication number: 20130072257
Abstract: A method of managing identities for use in a mobile telecommunications device in a telecommunications network is described. First of all, an identity management process is triggered. After this, one or more parameters associated with the mobile telecommunications device is detected. The identity management process than has the following features. An identity management rule determined by the one or more parameters is detected. An identity database is then searched. Each record of the identity database comprises an identity and additional identity information for each identity, wherein the searching prioritises records according to the identity management rule. An identity is then selected when a record conforming to the identity management rule is found in said searching. The active identity of the mobile telecommunications device is then changed to be the selected identity when the active identity is not already the selected identity.

  • Patent number: 8340264
Abstract: The invention provides systems and methods in which an incoming call port is looped back at a switch and, under control of a call segment controller, is directed to applications and/or other termination points to provide enhanced calling services. According to a preferred embodiment, the call segment controller is provided with initial call instructions to initially direct an incoming call. The call may then be directed to an application which interacts with the call to determine further call instructions. These further call instructions are passed to the call segment controller to further process the call. Under control of the call segment controller the call may be directed to multiple termination points, including redirection to the application to provide subsequent interaction with the call.

  • Publication number: 20120309374
Abstract: A method of managing identities for use in a mobile telecommunications device in a telecommunications network has the following features. The identity management process is triggered and one or more parameters of a currently available mobile telecommunications network detected. An identity database is searched—each record in the identity database comprises an identity and additional identity information for each identity. The additional identity information includes the one or more parameters. The identity management process involves selecting an identity when a first record comprising the one or more parameters detected is found in said searching and modifying an active identity of the mobile telecommunications device to be the selected identity when the active identity is not already the selected identity. This process can be carried out by a subscriber information module of a mobile telecommunications device.

  • Publication number: 20120071337
Abstract: The invention provides a method for aiding the diagnosis or prognostic monitoring of Alzheimer's disease in a subject, said method comprising; providing a sample of blood obtained from said patient; assaying the amount of gelsolin present in said sample; comparing the amount of gelsolin present in said sample to a reference amount of gelsolin present in a sample from a healthy subject, wherein detection of a gelsolin level in the sample from said patient which is lower than the gelsolin level in the reference sample indicates an increased likelihood of Alzheimer's disease in said patient. Other markers are C1 protease inhibitor and ceruloplasmin. Both blood samples and tissue samples have been investigated.

  • Publication number: 20110099609
Abstract: Architecture that provides a secure environment in which data (e.g., code, instructions, files, images, etc.) can be opened and run by a client application. Once opened the data can be viewed (in a “protected view”) by the user without incurring risk to other client processing and systems. Accordingly, the architecture mitigates malicious attacks by enabling users to preview untrusted and potentially harmful data (e.g., files) in a low risk manner. Files opened in the protected view are isolated from accessing key resources on the client computer and provides the user a safer way to read files that can contain dangerous content. The protected view also provides a seamless user experience. The user is unaware that the client is operating on data in a different mode and allows for the reduction of security prompts.

  • Publication number: 20110059306
Abstract: A design method for making a bituminous mixture that is used to form a vapor-permeable layer of pavement is provided. This design procedure includes preparing one or more bituminous mixture test specimens, measuring the performance of these specimens, and selecting a desirable bituminous mixture for paving that is vapor-permeable based on the performance of the specimens. Another aspect of the present invention is the selected bituminous mixture, which includes aggregate and a bituminous binder. The aggregate may be selected such that no more than about 5% by mass of the aggregate and preferably no more than about 3.5% by mass of the aggregate is able to pass through a 75 ?m sieve. The selected bituminous mixture may have an Air Permeability Value that is at least about 8 cm2 so as to reduce its propensity for blistering during and after construction. Still further, the selected bituminous mixture may have desirable fatigue resistance and may be substantially water-impermeable.
