  • Publication number: 20170030844
Abstract: A scanning apparatus for measuring the attenuation of radiation passing from a radiation source along a radiation path to a radiation detector includes a source of radiation; at least one radiation detector capable of detecting radiation emitted by the source a data processor associated with the at least one radiation detector for calculating a property of material present in a linear radiation path between the source and the at least one detector; and a spacer arranged between the source and the at least one detector. The spacer defines a space which is capable of excluding water and having an average density which is less than 1 gcm?3. The provision of a spacer in the radiation path enables more radiation to be passed along the radiation path because water can be replaced with a material which is less attenuating to radiation.

  • Publication number: 20160361189
Abstract: An improved ankle joint device is provided. In one aspect, the device provides two stages of dorsiflexion resistance biasing a first splint member (or other attachment member that follows the angular displacement of a wearer's lower leg or foot) against dorsiflexion movement within an active angular range of dorsiflexion, corresponding to second and third rocker phases of a wearer's gait; in addition to a phase of plantarflexion resistance biasing the first splint/attachment member against plantarflexion movement within an active angular range of plantarflexion, corresponding to a first rocker phase. In another aspect, an equilibrium or neutral angle between a wearer's foot and tibia at which the device applies no biasing forces is adjustable by adjusting the angle at which a second splint/attachment member is fixed relative to a joint body. Typically, the second splint member is secured to a wearer's lower leg, and the first splint member is secured to a wearer's foot.

  • Publication number: 20160363663
Abstract: A system for tracking position of objects in an industrial environment includes an interrogator, a transponder, and a processor. The interrogator transmits a signal and provides a first reference signal corresponding to the transmitted signal. The transponder provides a response signal. The interrogator receives the response signal and provides a second reference signal corresponding to the response signal. The processor determines a location of either the interrogator or the transponder, relative to the other, based on the two reference signals.

  • Publication number: 20160363648
Abstract: A system for tracking an object includes a plurality of fixed devices and at least one tracked device. The fixed devices are positioned at fixed locations and the tracked device is affixable to the object. The fixed devices and the tracked device are configured to transmit and/or receive signals used for time of flight measurements. A processor is configured to determine one or more positions of the tracked device relative to one or more of the fixed devices based upon one or more time of flight measurements between the tracked device and one or more of the fixed devices.

  • Patent number: 9515979
Abstract: Systems and methods for personalizing dialogs are disclosed. A dialog system can provide a user interface to allow a first user to specify a second user to participate in an automated dialog, a specific response option, and a maximum time period for responding. The dialog system can send a message to the second user with the specific response option. The dialog system can branch the dialog based on the occurrence of an event or combination of events occurring in conjunction the second user. In a first branch, the dialog system is configured to send a second communication to the second user using a second communications channel, the second communication containing the specific response option. In a second branch, the dialog system is further configured to execute a third instruction associated with the dialog.

  • Publication number: 20160132472
Abstract: A system and a method for constantly improving process efficiency and consistency are disclosed herein. A preferred embodiment of the system comprises a database, a user interface, a change tracking module, and a feedback module. The database stores one or more electronic assets. The user interface allows a user to select an electronic asset as a template and automatically create a work product based on the template. The change tracking module monitors the use of the selected electronic asset with one or more describing properties such as the changes made to the working product and time used for finalizing the work product. Then, the feedback module may analyze the one or more describing properties and provide a feedback as to how to improve the selected electronic asset.

  • Publication number: 20160112865
Abstract: A method of managing identities for use in a mobile telecommunications device in a telecommunications network has the following features. The identity management process is triggered and one or more parameters of a currently available mobile telecommunications network detected. An identity database is searched—each record in the identity database comprises an identity and additional identity information for each identity. The additional identity information includes the one or more parameters. The identity management process involves selecting an identity when a first record comprising the one or more parameters detected is found in said searching and modifying an active identity of the mobile telecommunications device to be the selected identity when the active identity is not already the selected identity. This process can be carried out by a subscriber information module of a mobile telecommunications device.

  • Publication number: 20150347771
Abstract: Architecture that provides a secure environment in which data (e.g., code, instructions, files, images, etc.) can be opened and run by a client application. Once opened the data can be viewed (in a “protected view”) by the user without incurring risk to other client processing and systems. Accordingly, the architecture mitigates malicious attacks by enabling users to preview untrusted and potentially harmful data (e.g., files) in a low risk manner. Files opened in the protected view are isolated from accessing key resources on the client computer and provides the user a safer way to read files that can contain dangerous content. The protected view also provides a seamless user experience. The user is unaware that the client is operating on data in a different mode and allows for the reduction of security prompts.

  • Publication number: 20150333492
Abstract: An attachment for a wire stripper is disclosed. The attachment is securable to a wire stripper and provides a compartment for retaining stripped insulation. The insulation retainer is specifically designed to attach to a particular type/style of wire stripper, but could essentially be designed and configured to fit or adapt on nearly any type of wire stripper, The insulation retainer is temporally retained on the wire stripper with a fastener, clip, magnet or other fastening means where the insulation retainer is installed, removed, and moved as desired. The chamber is configured to allow unstripped wire to be easily placed into the chamber and still retain stripped wire with minimal or no risk of the stripped insulation from falling out of the retaining compartment. When the insulation is stored all of the pieces can be collectively discharged in the trash or in a recycling container.

  • Publication number: 20150321757
Abstract: A multi-hull seaplane configured to eliminate most porpoising modes (only the low angle planing remains) by separating the forward and aft hulls and staggering them transversely so as the water flow from the forward hulls does not strike the rear hulls at planing speeds thereby eliminating afterbody induced porpoising. The forward and aft hulls are offset laterally with possible vertical offset and longitudinally to maintain lateral and longitudinal stability over all speed regimes.
