Abstract: A three-dimensional image is generated using global or local coordinate, 3-D spatial data, and image data gathered from one or more locations relative to a scene. The global or local position of 3-D spatial data points on the image is determined. The position of a point of interest on the three-dimensional image is determined by creating a three-dimensional polygon using adjacent 3-D spatial data points. The global or local position of these points may then be calculated using, for example, a ray tracing algorithm. The global or local position of a point of interest may alternatively be approximated, for example, by interpolating the global or local coordinates of the 3-D spatial data point(s) closest to the point of interest. Furthermore, a distance, bearing, or other measurement between two points of interest may also be calculated.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for gathering audience measurement data relating to exposure of an audience member to audio data. Audio data is received in a user system and is then encoded with audience measurement data. The encoded audio data is reproduced by the user system, picked up by a monitor and decoded to recover the audience measurement data.

Abstract: A method and system for reporting the position of an aircraft to Air Traffic Services. The method comprises the steps of assigning at least one system access communication number to an aircraft, configuring a call routing system to provide a selection menu comprised of a plurality of Air Traffic Services radio facilities, initiating a call by dialing the system access communication number using a communications service, selecting at least one number corresponding to the Air Traffic Services radio facility sought, and routing the call to personnel at the corresponding Air Traffic Services radio facility using a communications device. The position of an aircraft is reported to the facility during the call.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for encoding and decoding information in broadcast or recorded segment signals are described. In certain embodiments, an audience monitoring system encodes identification information in the audio signal portion of a broadcast or recorded segment using spread spectrum encoding. A personal monitoring device receives an acoustically reproduced version of the broadcast or recorded signal via a microphone, decodes the identification information from the audio signal portion despite significant ambient noise, and stores this information, automatically providing a diary for the audience member which is later uploaded to a centralized facility. A separate monitoring device decodes additional information from the broadcast signal, which is matched with the audience diary information at the central facility.

Abstract: The present invention is a catheter actuation handle 14 for deflecting a distal end 18 of a tubular catheter body 12, the handle including an auto-locking mechanism, 54. The handle comprises upper and lower grip portions 24a, 24b, an actuator 20, and an auto-locking mechanism, 54. The auto-locking mechanism 54 is adapted to hold a deflected distal end 18 of the catheter 10 in place without input from the operator. When the distal end 18 of the catheter 10 is deflected from its zero position, it typically will seek a return to its zero position, and as a result exerts a force on the actuator 20. The auto-locking mechanism 54 acts by providing a second force that resists this force from the distal end 18 and holds the distal end 18 in place. As a result, the operator does not need to maintain contact with the buttons 22a, 22b to maintain the distal end 18 in a set position once placed there by actuating the actuator 20.

Abstract: A system and method for mobile ground-to-air and air-to-ground communication network acceleration. The system and method can reduce the cost of airborne communication services by creating a faster connection and thus increasing data throughput. In one embodiment, the communication network acceleration system and method provide as much as a four-fold increase over standard high-speed data rates. This increase is made possible in part through the integration, implementation, and use of acceleration and compression technologies in the ground system that supports communications to and from an airborne terminal.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for including a code having at least one code frequency component in an audio signal are provided. The abilities of various frequency components in the audio signal to mask the code frequency component to human hearing are evaluated and based on these evaluations an amplitude is assigned to the code frequency component. Methods and apparatus for detecting a code in an encoded audio signal are also provided. A code frequency component in the encoded audio signal is detected based on an expected code amplitude or on a noise amplitude within a range of audio frequencies including the frequency of the code component.

Abstract: Automatically providing electronic sheet orientation information by moving the sheets in a sheet path past a multiple photodetectors array bar to provide electrical signals corresponding to the initial sheet orientations, where this photodetectors array bar is angularly mounted at a transverse but non-perpendicular angle to the sheet path so that differently positioned subsets of photodetectors may be activated by the leading edge of the sheets at different sheet movement positions. These signals may be compared at different time intervals and appropriately electronically analyzed to provide sheet skew, process and lateral orientation information which may be used to automatically control an sheet registration correction system, such as for a printer.
