  • Patent number: 10560149
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for using alternating current (AC) power waveforms to communicate between devices in a doorbell circuit. A signaling device that emits sound may be positioned in the doorbell circuit between an AC power source and a doorbell device (such as an A/V device including a doorbell). A signaling device may be coupled in parallel to a signaling-control device that includes electronic circuitry that provides a selective bypass to allow for larger amounts of current drawn by the A/V device to bypass the signaling device without causing the signaling device to emit the sound. The A/V device and the signaling-control device may use AC power waveforms to communicate data and/or data between each other. For example, the A/V device and the signaling-control device may control respective signal relays to selectively open and close the doorbell circuit in order to communicate with each other using the AC current waveform.

  • Publication number: 20200024718
Abstract: The present application provides Calcia-Magnesia-Alumina-Silica (CMAS) (or molten silicate) resistant thermal barrier coatings (IBC). The coatings include elongate growth domains of non-equiaxed, randomly arranged overlapping grains or splats. The elongate growth domains include overlapping individual, randomly distributed splats of tough and soft phases. In some embodiments, the elongate growth domains are formed via air plasma spray. In some embodiments, the tough phases are at least partially stabilized zirconia and/or hafnia compositions, and the soft phases are CMAS (or molten silicate) reactive or resistant compositions. Within each elongate growth domain, the mixture of the tough and soft phases act together to limit penetration of CMAS and also provide sufficient domain toughness to minimize cracking forces produced during crystallization of infiltrated CMAS.

  • Patent number: 10494192
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for sorting items to a plurality of sort destinations. The items are fed into the apparatus at an input station having a scanning station. The scanning station evaluates one or more characteristics of each item. The items are then loaded onto one of a plurality of independently controlled delivery vehicles. The delivery vehicles are individually driven to sort destinations. Once at the appropriate sort destination, the delivery vehicle ejects the item to the sort destination and returns to receive another item to be delivered. A re-induction conveyor may be provided for receiving select items from the vehicles and conveying the items back to the input station for re-processing. Additionally, a controller is provided to control the movement of the vehicles based on a characteristic each item being delivered by each vehicle. The system may also include vehicles having edge-detection assemblies for detecting items being loaded onto or discharged from the vehicles.

  • Patent number: 10489347
Abstract: A method for generating and maintaining hierarchical tags with community-based ratings is provided. Tags for media streams are organized into a hierarchical format. Users may select tags from the hierarchical tag database that describes a particular multimedia content. If the user is unable to locate a desired tag, the user may submit a new tag. Upon submission of the new tag, a librarian approves the tag before storing and placing the tag in the hierarchical tag database. Users are also able to rate the quality of the association between the tag and the multimedia content. If a tag is rated low, the tag may be removed from the hierarchical tag database. If the tag is rated highly, display of the tag in a list of tags becomes more prominent.
