  • Publication number: 20220294617
Abstract: A system and method are provided for proactively buffering quantum key distribution (QKD) key material. The method includes monitoring key generation rates and surpluses at QKD devices at each node of a QKD link in a QKD network, retrieving surplus key material from the QKD devices at one or both nodes of the QKD link, and buffering the surplus key material in a local storage at one or both nodes in the QKD link. The surplus key material can be used to offset overhead introduced in securely relaying keys between non-adjacent demand pairs in the QKD network. The surplus key material can also be used to offset future transient decreases in key generation rates.

  • Publication number: 20220294616
Abstract: A system and method are described for proactively performing key swaps among nodes in a quantum key distribution (QKD) network. The method includes determining a routing solution for nodes in the QKD network; making the routing solution available to the nodes in the QKD network; and initiating key swaps among the nodes in the QKD network according to the routing solution, prior to key requests being made within the QKD network. The method can also include continuously performing key swaps among the nodes in the QKD network according to the routing solution; detecting a change in capacity and/or a change in demand on one or more links within the QKD network; determining a new routing solution based on the detected change; and continuously preforming subsequent key swaps according to the new routing solution.

  • Patent number: 11443575
Abstract: A system for providing gamification of a destination such as a theme park where guests use a venue app with an optional electronic ticket that allows for both self-serve access into the destination and tracking of individual guests throughout various access points. An extended range ID such as an RFID is provided to the guest either in the electronic ticket or in a wearable. Using combinations of RFID readers, pressure sensors and cameras the system tracks guests down the ride seat and tracks the movements of guided, free-floating and free-ranging vehicles. Using the combination of guest and vehicle tracking information along with information provided by a destination gaming system, the destination guest experience is customized including various effects for rides and attractions. Spot cameras are placed at tracked locations such as rides seats, where images are captured in response to either external triggers generated by the system or guest indications.

  • Publication number: 20220276162
Abstract: A device to measure the amount of light able to transmit through a liquid. The device uses a light detector and multiple light emitting diodes (LED's) along with an optical unit such that the light detector, LED's, and an optical unit define a path of light emitted by each individual LED or subgroup of LED's and detected by the detector. The device uses a structure designed to surround the LED's and light detector such that the structure allows the device to be immersed in the liquid and such that the structure is shaped to allow a volume of liquid to be between the LED's and detector, intersecting the light path.

  • Publication number: 20220265385
Abstract: A mediated-reality system for surgical applications incorporates pre-operative images and real-time captured images of a surgical site into a visualization presented on a head-mounted display worn by a surgeon during a surgical procedure. The mediated-reality system tracks the surgeon's head position and generates real-time images of the surgical site from a virtual camera perspective corresponding to the surgeon's head position to mimic the natural viewpoint of the surgeon. The mediated-reality system furthermore aligns the pre-operative images with the real-time images from the virtual camera perspective and presents a mediated-reality visualization of the surgical site with the aligned pre-operative three-dimensional images or a selected portion thereof overlaid on the real-time images representing the virtual camera perspective.

  • Publication number: 20220265564
Abstract: A lipid capsid comprising at least one S type protein for attachment to the ACE2 receptor of a cancer cell is provided. The lipid capsid encloses an inner package, comprising histone or a histone eviction compound. The S type protein of the lipid capsid attaches to the ACE2 receptor of a targeted cancer cell, enabling the outer lipid envelope of the capsid to be absorbed through the cell wall of the targeted cell, after which the inner package of the lipid capsid is delivered to the cancer cell. In some embodiments, the histone is selected from the H2AX histone, the H3K27 histone or the H3K9 histone, each histone having a different mechanism of action to disable the cancer cell or repair the DNA of the cancer cell. In another embodiment, the inner package contains a histone eviction compound for evicting histone from the cancer cell.

  • Publication number: 20220248201
Abstract: An electronic material sensor for a container, such as a dispenser for paper or liquid materials, or a waste receptacle, in a facility such as a restroom. The material sensor may be adapted to fit inside an existing material dispenser. The material sensor provides wireless data transmission of the level of liquid or paper material in the container. A traffic sensor senses presence of people in the facility. An electronic beacon assigned to a user, such as a cleaning staff, tracks location of the user in the facility. In a system employing one or more sensors, including material sensors, traffic sensors, and beacons, the sensors send real-time data to a base station running a software application, to give details about levels of the materials and facility usage, and the location of cleaning staff.

  • Publication number: 20220227467
Abstract: An ROV docked to a tether management system (TMS) is lifted outboard into water beside a vessel while deploying an umbilical that effects communication with the ROV via a tether of the TMS. After undocking the ROV to swim away from the TMS while deploying the tether, the TMS is suspended over the water while the ROV performs a subsea mission. A mobile or transportable ROV support unit can be positioned on a deck of a vessel of opportunity to facilitate deployment of the ROV, the TMS and the umbilical and to control the ROV during the mission.
