  • Patent number: 8905970
Abstract: A high pressure delivery device for delivering a medicament includes a first chamber for storing a supply of the medicament and a second chamber in fluid communication with the first chamber. A fluid connection path is in fluid communication with the second chamber for administering the medicament. A valving system is in fluid communication with the first chamber, the second chamber and the fluid connection path. The valving system allows a dose of the medicament to be injected from the first chamber into the second chamber while substantially preventing backflow of the dose into the first chamber and substantially preventing leakage through the fluid connection path. The valving system also allows the dose in the second chamber to be administered through the fluid connection path while substantially preventing the dose from flowing back into the first chamber.

  • Publication number: 20140342128
Abstract: The invention relates to a microarray structure including a substrate material layer, a continuous three-dimensional (3D) surface layer on the substrate material layer that is capable of functionalisation for use as an array, and an inert material wherein the structure includes accurately defined and functionalisable isolated areas which are millimeter to nanometer in size. The functionalised areas are part of the continuous 3D surface layer and are isolated by the inert material and are interconnected within the structure by the continuous 3D surface layer.

  • Publication number: 20140343535
Abstract: A syringe (211) includes a syringe body (217) for receiving and administering a medicament. A needle (215) is received by the syringe body (217). A needle adjusting member (221) is movably disposed on the syringe body (217) between first and second positions. When the needle adjusting member (221) is in the first position, the needle (215) has a first length adapted to draw medicament into the syringe body (217). When the needle adjusting member (221) is in the second position, the needle (215) has a second length for injecting the medicament.

  • Publication number: 20140166567
Abstract: A filter system having a filter media retainer seal includes: at least one underdrain block having a top wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of side walls extending between the top wall and the bottom wall; a filter media retainer mounted onto the top wall of the at least one underdrain block; and at least one rib positioned between the underdrain block and the filter media retainer. The at least one rib forms a seal between the underdrain block and the filter media retainer, and prevents filter media from entering the underdrain block. The at least one rib can be monolithically formed to the at least one underdrain block. Alternatively, the at least one rib is monolithically formed to the filter media retainer. The rib is crushable and/or it bites into a surface on the adjoining part to reduce or eliminate the need for a separate sealant.

  • Patent number: 8375509
Abstract: A cyclonic separating apparatus for a cleaning appliance includes a plurality of cyclonic separators arranged in series for separating particles from a dirt- and dust-laden airflow, at least three collectors for collecting separated dirt and dust, and a closure member movable between a closed position in which the closure member closes an end of each collector and an open position in which separated dirt and dust can be emptied from the collectors. The ends of the collectors are separated by dividing walls. A seal is provided to seal between the closure member and the dividing walls when the closure member is in the closed position. This common seal between the dividing walls and the closure member is able to seal effectively even if the closure member is misaligned or incorrectly fitted.

  • Publication number: 20130006216
Abstract: A drug delivery device (100) for administering a low dose of a medicament includes a housing (111) and a drug reservoir (101) disposed in the housing (111). A needle (135) is connected to the drug reservoir (101). A pressure applying member (113) is movably connected to the housing (111) and is movable between first and second positions. The pressure applying member (113) does not apply pressure to the drug reservoir (101) in the first position and applies pressure to the drug reservoir (101) in the second position to dispense medicament stored in the drug reservoir (101). A method of administering a low dose of insulin to simulate a first-phase insulin response of a pancreas is also disclosed.
